Joel Justus temporarily replacing UK Basketball assistant coach

Who says news doesn’t break on July 4th? According to WTVQ’s Kennedy Hardman, Joel Justus will temporarily replace a UK Basketball assistant coach, who is stepping aside for “family reasons”:

Justus came on board in 2014 as director of analytics, and was promoted to special assistant to the head coach last summer. A few weeks back, he was on the recruiting trail in Spain for the FIBA U17 World Championships.

More on this as it develops…

UPDATE: A UK spokesman has confirmed the report. While UK did not disclose the name of the coach stepping aside, as Kyle Tucker pointed out, it’s worth noting that John Robic’s father recently passed away, so perhaps he is taking some time to be with his family. Our thoughts go out to the Robic family during this difficult time.

Prayers to Coach Robic and his family. He is probably my favorite coach. At the Women’s Clinic he is always wonderful with the participants – friendly and funny. The players seem to have a great relationship with him as well. Hope he is back in action soon.
