Reid Travis earned AP Preseason All-American votes

The Associated Press announced its Preseason All-America team on Tuesday, and though no Kentucky Wildcats made the list, Reid Travis earned a handful of votes. Travis was the 13th-leading vote-getter with five votes from the 65 ballots from the national media panel.

Purdue’s Carsen Edwards led all players with 63 of 65 votes to headline the six-man All-America team, which also includes Duke freshman R.J. Barrett:

Carsen Edwards, Purdue, Sophomore, (63 votes)

Luke Maye, North Carolina, Senior, (52)

R.J. Barrett, Duke, Freshman, (50)

Dedric Lawson, Kansas, Junior, (30)

Ethan Happ, Wisconsin, Senior, (23)

Caleb Martin, Nevada, Senior, (23)

Other receiving votes: Grant Williams, Tennessee, 18; Tyus Battle, Syracuse, 11; Rui Hachimura, Gonzaga, 10; Shamorie Ponds, St. John’s, 10; Kyle Guy, Virginia, 8; Mike Daum, South Dakota State, 6; Markus Howard, Marquette, 5; Reid Travis, Kentucky, 5; Zion Williamson, Duke, 3; Tremont Waters, LSU, 2; Cassius Winston, Michigan State, 2; Sagaba Konate, West Virginia, 1; Romeo Langford, Indiana, 1; Eric Paschall, Villanova, 1; Jontay Porter, Missouri, 1.

To recap, Reid Travis was the only Kentucky Wildcat to receive a vote and Reid Travis might be coming off the bench at Kentucky.

Kentucky must be loaded.

I don’t care as long as we win #9. The four horse men are gonna kick some ass and between Herro, green, Quickley, and baker we are going to light it up from outside.

Is there a bigger joke than the preseason AA team? UK players are rarely on it, but are almost always on the AP and consensus teams at the end of the year, when it actually counts. I’ve never even heard of the guys from Purdue or Nevada. Luke Maye? Lol… he’s a nice player, plays hard, but don’t make me laugh. If he was first-team AA material he wouldn’t still be at UNCheat.

Preseason crap is for the media to have something to talk about until there is actually something to talk about
