Prepare for More Calipari to the NBA Headlines

“You mean I’ve gotta spend my Christmas Eve Eve talking to these guys?”
"You mean I've gotta spend my Christmas Eve Eve talking to these guys?"

Well, get ready.  The national media is about to start up all that crazy talk of John Calipari leaving for the NBA…again.

That’s right.  This morning it was announced that the Brooklyn Nets have fired head coach Lionel Hollins.  Nets’ GM Billy King was also demoted, leaving the door open for CEO Brett Yormark to control the next hire.  In case you missed it, Yormark recently made public who he wants to coach his Nets.  Yep, you guessed it. John Calipari.

It’s no secret that Coach Calipari and Brett Yormark are close friends.  Just last month, this article on ESPN.com told the story of their friendship throughout both of their careers.  It does make you stop and wonder, ‘is this really possible?’  To make things worse, Yormark was recently quoted that he would offer Calipari “everything under the sun” to bring him in.

Despite Yormark’s comments, is it really worth it for Calipari to leave Kentucky?

The Nets have been terrible, and even worse, they traded away their 2016 and 2018 1st round draft picks to Boston.  It’s almost coaching suicide to accept a job without two of your next three 1st round picks.  How do you suppose to rebuild a team like that?

I imagine we’ll see a tweet from Coach Cal soon that puts these rumors to rest.

This seems like it is the only decision that could top the stupidity of what Pitino did in leaving Kentucky. Cal has signed what on paper is arguably the most amazingly athletic and skilled class ever and will be making nearly $8 million in the near future. Kentucky has given him the moon already. If he were to decide to leave IMO I think it really could go down as the single dumbest decision any coach has ever made. The pro game is a completely other ball game, and he will never, no matter how much power he has, be able to assemble teams like he can at Kentucky.

There are certain teams in the NBA & NFL where it doesn’t matter who owns the team or who is in the head office they are always horrible yea the Nets is one of those teams. The fact the Nets have traded away their 1st round pick 2 out of 3 years just shows they have no idea what they’re doing. If Cal wants to sign up for failure, then sign up with the Nets.

If he was a true friend he wouldn’t try to hire Cal to coach for that steaming pile of dog crap of an organization when he already has the perfect job.

“Money talks”, what a stupid comment. Cal never has to worry about money even if he never made another dime beginning now. But getting by on the $8 million a year at UK he will probably be able to cut back here and there and make it happen.
