Players tell how they’ll remember UK’s 2017-18 season

The locker room is a somber environment after a season-ending loss in the tournament, especially when it is a devastating loss such as the one Kentucky experienced Thursday night. The last thing the players want to do is answer questions about what went wrong, but it’s a part of the process for them and for the media, as difficult as it is for all parties.

Following Kentucky’s heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Kansas State, we asked the players to take a moment to reflect back on the season as a whole. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said, “I’ve enjoyed this experience so much. Being with these guys, they’re like my brothers… It’s an experience a lot of people don’t get to go through and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Jarred Vanderbilt said, “We created a brotherhood like no other. The up and downs we had this year made us better players and made us men as well. I love these guys. I’d go to battle with these guys any day. I’m just thankful for the season that we had and what we did accomplish.”

Vando: thanks for the comfortable seat it was great having such a good view of games. Now on to the NBA. Hopefully they don’t notice my foot made of glass. P.j.: need to go to the gym now and work on free throws.
