Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

PJ’s back… So what now?

PJ Washington is back. That’s awesome. I don’t know how you reacted when you heard the news, but I let out a “[Expletive] Yeah!” that could be heard all across Fayette County. (Apologies to my neighbors.)

Now we’re left with two more decisions this evening, and another, Reid Travis, in the days/weeks ahead.

Let’s chat about the first two because they could come any minute now. It’s hard to imagine they’ll both join Washington in returning for another year, but it’s not impossible. There was some talk as recent as an hour ago that Wenyen Gabriel is eyeing a junior season in Lexington; Jarred Vanderbilt, though, his situation is eerily quiet and has been going all the way back to the speculation and waiting around his injury. They’re each looking at Washington and EJ Montgomery as two potential stars locked into UK’s frontcourt rotation next season, as well as a sophomore Nick Richards. There may be room for one, but two? That’s a crowd.

As it stands now, we don’t have a clue as to when either will make and announce their final decision. They each have until midnight, but it shouldn’t take too long now that Washington has claimed his spot in the paint for another year. It may be the case one rushes to return before the other, but I don’t know anything going on in their heads right now.

Then there is Travis, the grad transfer out of Stanford, reportedly down to Kentucky and Villanova. Yahoo! NBA Insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report Travis’ leaning toward becoming a Cat, and he has since said his sources still believe that is the case, even with the news of Washington coming back.

Washington, Montgomery, Richards and Travis???? You kidding me? That is insane. And what does it mean for Gabriel and Vanderbilt?

Or will Gabriel and Vanderbilt keep Travis from coming?

Whatever the case, we’ll know more very soon, and however it plays out, it’s a great problem to have.

We want Duke.

The advertisements make hard to read the last few lines of every KSR article, and nearly impossible to leave a comment.

At least Washington came back though! lol

With Travis, it seems odd to me that a guy who averaged 20 points doesn’t get one of 69 invites to the combine.

So how about an updated article on what it appears that the roster will look like overall next season, especially since we aren’t real familiar with the guys coming in. When you get time, Drew.
