Louisville forward Anas Mahmoud suffered a sprained ankle in practice last Tuesday and missed the next three games following the injury.
After the Cardinals’ win two nights ago, Rick Pitino said Mahmoud would return January 3 for Louisville’s game with Wake Forest, thus missing the Kentucky game.
The moment Pitino said that, we all knew Mahmoud would suit up in Lexington. Pitino might as well have said, “Mahmoud will absolutely, one hunnid percent play against Kentucky.”
This seems to happen every year: Louisville player gets hurt, Pitino says player will miss Kentucky game, player plays in Kentucky game. Mahmoud is this year’s example. He got in last night against Utah Valley and played well in nine minutes. So either he had a miraculous overnight recovery since Pitino’s comment, or Pitino is still the lying-est liar to ever lie.
See you Saturday, Anas.
