P.J. Washington cuts list to four schools after Big Blue Madness

We all know that Coach Cal pulled out all the stops for Big Blue Madness this year, bringing in over 10 highly touted recruits, along with a ton of notable former Cats. Apparently, the UK fans weren’t the only ones who appreciated what went on.

According to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog, the No. 16 overall player in the class of 2017, P.J. Washington trimmed his list to just four schools, and Kentucky made the cut. Washington is now considering Kentucky, Arizona, UNLV, and Washington.

Zagoria had some solid quotes from P.J.’s father, Paul, in his story as well.

According to Washington’s father, the way that Coach Cal produces NBA Draft picks is one of the major selling points for UK:

I think every high school kid looks at the college that they want to go to and how many people they have in the pros and the one thing that that stands out with Kentucky is [John] Calipari puts them in the league at a rapid rate,” Paul said.  “I heard somebody say that most coaches probably don’t have five players in the league, he’s got five people on one team in Phoenix. So that’s big-time, that’s big-time.

On top of that, Washington’s unofficial visit to Lexington this weekend for Big Blue Madness gave the Big Blue Nation  a chance to showcase just how passionate they are.

It was an unofficial for him so we didn’t really spend a lot of time with coaches,” said Paul Washington Sr., the Findlay Prep coach and P.J.’s father. “It was good. The only thing we were looking for is the fans, that old Big Blue Nation. There was definitely a lot of people for sure.

You’ll have to stay tuned to see if Washington will be Coach Cal’s first commit from the 2017 class. After this weekend, it sounds like that class has a chance to be another one of Calipari’s loaded classes.
