University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Orlando Antigua Terminated by USF

The University of South Florida announced former UK assistant Orlando Antigua has been fired as the head basketball coach.  Assistant Murray Bartow will serve as his interim replacement.  USF has a 6-7 record this season and is 0-2 in conference play.  In his three years at USF, Antigua had a record of 23-55.

The timing is odd.  No explanation has been given for his termination, but Antigua’s program went under NCAA investigation in July for alleged academic fraud by his brother Oliver, an assistant who resigned the day the initial report was released.

A close friend and colleague of Calipari, few would be surprised to see Antigua return to the Kentucky sideline.

I’d love to have Coach O back as an assistant.

Both of you, wake up and get you head out of — the sand. UK does NOT need him back in Lexington, PERIOD.

Coach O was a great assistant at UK and a very good recruiter. I can want him back as an assistant if I please. I do not need your permission or approval.

Very odd timing, middle of the year when conference play is starting. Gotta be something a lot worse than the 22-53 record to be shown the door in early January.

Not sure I’d be comfortable seeing him back on the bench since, ya know, “his brother” drew the attention of the NCAA.

I wish he had never left UK, but I’m not sure he could come back and have things be just like they were in the “good old days.” There’s not currently an opening on the coaching staff.

I hate to hear that. I’ve always liked him. I’m not sure why, but Coach Calipari’s Assistants can’t make it on their own.

I know this post doesn’t belong, but I am taking my girlfriend to the game tonight with bad seats. I am thinking of proposing tonight and wanting to get ahold of good seats if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. #BBN

      Marrying a Tarheel? Good luck!

Kidding, I’m sure she’s great. You could always propose on the old court at the Vine St entrance if your seats aren’t good enough

I can’t give lower level tix to a man considering proposing to a UNC fan @ Rupp Arena. I will however give you a life lesson and tell you to stay single until you find a BBN chick. Women are difficult enough. Marry for fandom that way you always have something in common.

I have been happily married to a Tarheel wife for nearly 20 years. It does help that she acquiesced into the understanding to that UK basketball is more important to me that Tarheels basketball is to her. For the record though, I can’t fathom she would have said yes if I proposed to her in Rupp

Life lesson should have stopped after word ” single”. JK, but seriously, marrying a rival fan is tough but a Tarheel at least is far superior to UofL, Duke or IU

Always liked Coach O. He was a great recruiter and the players seemed to love him. Bring him back!
