Orlando Antigua headed to Illinois

And now, some bittersweet news. According to Evan Daniels, former UK assistant and South Florida head coach Orlando Antigua will join Brad Underwood’s new staff at Illinois. After Antigua was fired by South Florida a few months ago, there were rumblings he could come back to Kentucky to rejoin John Calipari’s staff, but unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Regardless, best of luck to Coach O, who is a heck of a hire for Brad Underwood. Not only is Coach O one of the best recruiters in the nation, he’s one of the best people too.

Think he would he have come back to UK if Cal didn’t get an extension?

    Well this is unfortunate.

Whomever is suppose to make sure we have a ‘court hungry’ Kentucky raised kid on the bench has clearly dropped the ball. That seemed to always be in place when Orlando was around (not sure if he deserves the credit or not).

Since he’s left we haven’t recruited one. So since that’s the only way we win Championships… how about one of the assistant coaches line the next one up STAT!

Find a kid worthy enough to take a scholarship from one of the guys already signed or the guys who are being recruited. Please. Give one name.

Are you seriously suggesting ANY of the 4 things below:

      1. We shouldn’t develop at least 1 Kentucky kid every other year.
…… 2 in state kids every 4 years. Some can be brought on preferred as walk-on (as has been done in the past).

      2. We haven’t had 2 scholarships in the last 4 years to offer to a Kentucky kid?
      3. We will win a National Championship without an upperclassman from Kentucky as a starter or vital reserve / 6th man.
      4. The log jam on the bench at the 5 is better than having at least 1 hungry Kentucky boy being groomed for a Jr / Sr title run.

I was hoping he’d come back. I don’t know what his duties were here before, but it was working. I don’t really care if we have KY kids or not. I just want to win, baby, win.
