Only one UK player made Jeff Goodman’s All-American Teams, and only as a Third-Team honoree

Kentucky may have three of the top freshmen in the country in Bam Adebayo, Malik Monk, and De’Aaron Fox, but according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, only one Kentucky player is worthy of preseason All-American status. The ESPN Insider released his list of preseason All-American honors today and Bam Adebayo made the Third Team.
“Adebayo is a big man who plays hard and is a tremendous athlete,” Goodman writes. “He has the potential for a double-double on any given night. The key for Adebayo will be adjusting to not always being able to physically overpower opponents in college as he was able to do in high school.”
Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox were listed among the 20 players “on the cusp” of the rankings. Preseason rankings and lists are total BS and not worth the time or energy to complain about, especially when it’s Jeff Goodman who made the list, but if you’d like to check it out for yourself, click here. (And then get out your wallet because all of the stuff about Kentucky is behind a paywall.)
Or, just watch Bam dunk:

Jeff Goodman doing Jeff Goodman things. He is only relevant because he gets clicks from upset UK fans. we really should stop acknowledging his asinine predictions.
In the real world, getting a double-double on most nights (which Goodman expects from Bam by his own admission) translates to being a first team All-American.
Goodman is such a tool…pay no attention to him.
I’ll start believing in Jeff Goodman as a reliable source of sports information at about the same time I put Hillary Clinton in charge of security for my company.
^^^Always one jerk that cannot remove politics from an unrelated topic.
Man, you must really hate Matt Jones.
dang it Spy, I was about to type that line
I stand corrected. Two jerks!
How many?
Count again?
counting me, 3
like 8 other people (at the moment), i upvoted both madarchitect’s comment and ksr spy’s reply.
Does he do this to get attention?
Yes, and he’s a self professed IU fan!
Last year notwithstanding, being an IU fan must be a tough gig. Maybe his anti-depressants cloud his thought process.
I plan to keep a running log of things that Goodman has left UK out of (rankings, player awards, evaluations) so that I can remind him and his readers how little lack of knowledge basketball knowledge he has at the end of the year when we take all the trophies and honors. Go Cats!
“Preseason rankings and lists are total BS and not worth the time or energy to complain about”
Then why write this article?
Because it’s fun to laugh at the buffoon.
The same reason Goodman makes such outlandish and stupid predictions: it gets people clicking on the website, and therefore, ad revenue.
I agree with the ukjaybrat comment. We should stop feeding the trolls.
I think the main thing Goodman is saying without saying it, is that Kentucky will be so balanced it’s hard to pick a few guys that will stand above the others when you have teams like Oregon who have one player who will be shooting the ball 20 times a game. Actually, you know what, he has an opinion that isn’t the same as mine. I hate him.
Is there any Russian hackers on here to hack Goodman and get that list free?
You think hackers hack for free? lol
Really? Am I on permanent moderation status again?
so pre-season rankings and lists dont matter when we dont agree with the content?
Corky don’t know is a$$ from a hole in the ground
Goodman has no idea what he is talking about. Just look at the thing about Markelle Fultz – “he’s not ultra-athletic, but he’s athletic enough.”

Really? Really? A 6’4 dude dunking from the free throw line who can get his head level with the rim is “athletic enough?”
Sit down Goodman. You’re embarrassing yourself at this point.
