Only four UK players make Draft Express’ 2014 mock draft

High School Basketball: McDonald's All American Games

Draft Express updated its 2014 mock draft this morning, and, as you might guess, some of your University of Kentucky Wildcats made the list. Here’s where Jonathan Givony ranked UK’s players:

2. Julius Randle
8. Andrew Harrison
16. Willie Cauley-Stein
28. Alex Poythress

That’s it. Really. Givony doesn’t have any other Cats going in the first or second rounds. Why? If you look at his 2015 mock draft, it seems Givony thinks Dakari Johnson, Aaron Harrison and James Young will stick around for an extra year:

21. Dakari Johnson
22. Aaron Harrison
23. James Young

I would love to have all three of those guys around for an extra year, but it ain’t gonna happen. Maybe Dakari. Nice thought, though.

It’s insane to think that Dakari would be 2nd round material. Had he been able to declare for the draft out of high school, on potential alone, he would have gone in the 1st round easily. Dakari in 2015 is a lottery pick.

And by “2nd round,” I mean late first round.

Why exactly do you feel that way?

Considering the strength of this years draft, I don’t think its outrageous to think those last three won’t be drafted. That said I think all three could certainly play their way into the draft.

i think there’s a chance young OR aaron harrison comes back, but not both … also a chance they both are gone … dakari could def leave after 1 year, he was the highest rated center, can’t teach 7′ … also see lee as a first rounder in 2015

he has montrezl going 9th, wow … has dante exum 3rd

It cracks me up that this guy says the Texas High school player of the year is not going to be drafted. Aaron Harrison puts the ball in the bucket better than anybody on the team. I’m confused why people are thinking he is going to be a late 2nd rounder or stick around for another year. Kid is unbelievable offensively.

Aaron will not have a great draft status next year, so he’ll stay in school. Andrew will not want to leave his twin brother – they both play two years. Point guard issue solved.

If SG’s are a dime a dozen, thus not worth as much in the draft, I am not sure why Aaron would not be open to sticking around two years and allow Cal to teach him how to play the point, allowing him to run the show in 15 and greatly improve his marketability to the NBA?

    I know…..a pipe dream.

I cant see Kyle Anderson playing in the NBA or even getting drafted. Hes not very athletic and his shot is below average. He is not a PG or even a guard. Hes a slender small forward who cant shoot. One of most overrated recruits i have ever seen.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see James Young stick around either, TBH.

Givony is an anti-uk complete moron. And so is anyone who thinks Aaron Harrison will be back for another year. Both Harrison’s will go in the lottery. People who think Aaron will go that much lower than andrew are dumb as hell. They’re the exact same player… Just different positions. Aaron will show everyone that this year

My God can atleast 2 of them stay? Last time we started completely over with a brand new team we went to the nit. Dakari should really consider staying, so should James young and Alex poythress unless his stock skyrockets after season

Why not wait & try to enjoy this year. After all this year’s team hasn’t had a practice yet, much less played a game. I will let next year take care of itself next year. So far I think Cal has done a good job of getting the players that he thinks will help his team. And I think he will do the same next year. Myself, I’m not worried about next year with so much fun to be had THIS YEAR! But first things first, let’s get ready for kick off Saturday against WKU. After football is when I’ll be ready to talk about basketball.

The one thing I know is no way will both WCS and Johnson go pro! Just not going to have the pt for both to show what they can do. I think which one goes pro will be worked out during practice this year, but then again Orton did go with Cuz.
I see young shining at UK this year. I would like to see him stick around but I see him playing his way into the lottery!

Where would Marcus Lee fall onto this list since there is no mention of him anywhere
