Only 3 SEC Teams Remain in the Tournament

UK was the only SEC school to emerge victorious yesterday, leaving only 3 of the original 8 eligible for the Sweet Sixteen.

Villanova kicked off a wild Saturday by thrashing Collin Sexton and Alabama, hitting 17 threes on route to an 81-58 win, effectively ending Sexton’s college career. The Crimson Tide point guard is a consensus lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

Tennessee struggled to keep up with Loyola-Chicago, until a late-game push saw the Volunteers take a one-point lead with just 20 seconds to play.

But apparently, the rim in Dallas is a Rambler fan:

Can we get a Sister Jean?

Florida and Texas Tech were in a 40-minute slugfest, and a clutch steal by UF’s Keith Stone gave the Gators two good swings at the end. Neither would land.

With Kentucky’s ticket to Atlanta already punched, it now falls on Auburn and Texas A&M to represent the conference. The Aggies have to lock it up with UNC at 5:15, while Tiger-on-Tiger violence ensues at 7:10 when Auburn clashes with Clemson.

Now that we aren’t worried about the Cats, let’s enjoy another full day slate of March basketball.

Saw the volunteers saw them? Matt needs to pay someone to proofread the writers posts because obviously they can’t do it themselves.

      Maybe hire some proofreaders?

Of just hire a couple of picky A-holes from the comment section

Ez, there’s nothing technically wrong with “a late-game push saw the Volunteers take a one-point lead” (unlike the glaring errors in your own comment).

First off, You have no idea what I’m even talking about. They fixed it. It previously read, “saw the volunteers saw them.” Also, I’m not a writer. Make sure u know wtf you speak of before interjecting.

Lets be honest. The sec was mediocre at best. A collection of mediocre teams and maybe a couple above average that just beat each other a lot.

So was Virginia evidently. And your team was much less than mediocre

Why would they? There plenty of volunteer proofreaders in the comment section. KSR thanks you for you diligent work!

I personally don’t care how many errors there are if they would just ban some of the negative comment posters on here.

Slater it’s funny Charles Barkley thinks the SEC was a tough conference as did many other experts. Somehow you fancy yourself more of an expert than them. Must be your time in the rec. league that makes you so smart.

When a team like Villanova hits 17 3s they are gonna be a tough out. But they aren’t going to do that every game. Tennessee waited too long to start playing and Florida had chances and couldn’t make plays at the end

Yea and not just tough but impossible. Any top 20 team hits 17 3’s just turn out the lights, the party’s over!. We hit a ton of 3’s against ‘Bama, too, they just don’t defend well. But as we saw w Buffalo u don’t get 2 in a row like that… the law of averages is real.

Committee must have thought the SEC was pretty good, they didn’t put an SEC team in dUKe’s bracket this year.

dUKe woudn’t meet an SEC team until the elite 8, last season they played South Carolina in the second game….and got manhandled.

Not a bit sorry to see Florida lose, after they got away with that foul in Rupp. They flop as much as dook or IU.

Did you watch that game? They played AWFUL! They played the ugly version of basketball that UK did when they were on their four game losing streak. Awful defense, no passing, terrible shot selection, missed FT’s, no hustle to the ball, and even with all that they could have won.

Just because KSR writers use the less popular form or tense of a word doesn’t make it wrong.

Anyone notice how empty most of these gyms are. Thought they were going to keep teams closer to home first 2 games. Seems like more teams were shipped away from closer locals this year

That’s what happens when you take teams from the East, ship them out west, take teams from the west, and ship them out east. Makes zero sense.

The SEC is getting better. There’s no doubt about that. We were by no means the best conference. Still, this year, like many years before I can’t help but notice that SEC basketball is so painful to watch compared to ACC, Big 12 and others. And it’s the officiating. No, I’m not complaining about UK’s games, although they’re a part of the SEC. But I watched a lot of basketball this year and it’s just bad when I’d rather watch another conference then my own. I don’t know why it is. I don’t know why Carolina and duke play and they aren’t in the 1&1 until 2-3 minutes to go in half and we play Florida and we are shooting 50+ free throws. There’s hardly any flow to these games and it just sucks to watch. Maybe that quarter(s) rule change will help ? The one they’re trying in the NIT. Historically I’ve noticed that SEC basketball is a whistle fest. Maybe we are a more physical conference ? Maybe it’s a part of the SEC powers that be and what they ask of officials? Or maybe I’m just going insane. Officiating is always going to be a topic for debate. But I feel like our conference needs to stop blowing the whistle so much in order to take the next step. We are starting to get more and more top players/athletes now-let them play!
