Gary Parrish says Newman to Starkville, Newman says not so fast

malik-newman

Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com has joined the Newman-to-Starkville party, reporting Newman will announce his commitment to Mississippi State on Friday. Multiple sources told Parrish it will be the Bulldogs for Newman’s college basketball career, not the Wildcats of the University of Kentucky.

Two coaches told Parrish, “It’s done.”

Another coach involved in the recruitment said, “We’re still trying … but I think MSU is the place.”

But over at the Clarion-Ledger, Newman’s hometown paper, Newman said he hasn’t committed to anyone and he is still considering four schools: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Kansas.

When asked about the rumor Newman had already submitted his paperwork to Mississippi State, Newman’s father said, “Who the hell would fill it out for him? The scholarship papers are on the dresser in my house.”

Just like big Zim, its out and he’s committing to MSU just trying to add some interest and uncertainty to the situation. Oh well.

Just another Sports reporter trying to invent news instead of reporting it. Also hoping BBN might do/say something that would piss Newman off, or that Cal may lose interest. OR All of the Above.

If he goes to miss st., and Jamal Murray commits within a week or so, all is good.

Yeah with every single recruiting outlet all pointing towards Mississippi St. I’m assuming there’s got to be some truth to it. It’s okay. Lets just go out and get one more guy for next year.

The crazy thing to me is a few months ago we were said to be in the lead with a few of these guys, so you would think that seven players declaring for the draft would furthermore close the deal and it has since appeared to go in the opposite direction.
