Of course Auburn looks great right before Kentucky comes to town

Don’t look now, but Kentucky’s next opponent looks way more dangerous than we initially thought.
Auburn beat Georgia 95-77 last night to get its first SEC win of the season, and it came in large part thanks to Sharife Cooper, the five-star guard who was ruled eligible 90 minutes before the Tigers’ game vs. Alabama on Saturday. Cooper had a double-double last night, finishing with 28 points, five rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals. Twenty of Cooper’s points came in the second half, and in the final nine minutes, he scored or assisted on 20 of Auburn’s 24 points.
28 points

Auburn’s 95 points are the most the Tigers have scored in regulation in an SEC game since January 2018, and came on 56.5% shooting. Against Alabama on Saturday, Cooper had 25 points and nine assists. By the way, the Tigers put up 90 in the loss to the Crimson Tide, who walloped Kentucky 85-65 Tuesday night.
Kentucky initially recruited Cooper, BJ Boston’s former AAU teammate, but the two sides parted ways in the summer of 2019. You know he — and Bruce Pearl — would love nothing more than a win over the Cats on Saturday. Hope Devin Askew’s ready.

4-8 here y’all come.
Enjoy your sanctions next year! 😀
Said it the other day on here. Lose to auburn, and the wheels fall off. One guy on auburn had twice as many assists in one game than the entire Kentucky team had against Alabama. Listened to Matt Jones radio show for first time in 2 years. He made Alabama and Nate Oats out to be National title contenders. Truth is Alabama ranks near bottom in most defensive categories and we simply couldn’t score on them. It’s a system and coaching failure. One dude at auburn comes off suspension and has a better game than Clarke and Boston have had combined. Boston and Clarke didn’t forget how to score. Their not bring out in position to score.
They’re.. not their…voice texting
So just 1 game earlier than we expected.
Our team has more than enough talent to beat Auburn……it’s the discipline, effort, desire and , yes coaching that seems to be lacking. Our team is a hot mess.
Question if Calipari doesn’t read the newspaper or watch the news, why would he lean his head into the mic and ask to hear the haters? One good game and he’s arrogant, 3 days later and he tucks his tail and says it’s a knock off game, not worthy of watching tape. You know why? Because he doesn’t make his guys watch tape, to show mistakes. He doesn’t make them watch tape period. But the tape is out on his offense, and we no longer have the john walls and DFox to run it, yet he refuses to change. Getting smoked on defense, allowing lay-up drills, no change to scheme, just scream GO more often
They will beat us by 15 points simply because we don’t have anyone who can stay in front of Cooper. I would be glad to be wrong, but I don’t think I am.
Agreed. Because we can’t stay in front. Our guys get caught on screens leaving wide open shooters; so switch schemes. Go 1/3/1. But the instant they give up an offensive rebound Cal will go back to M2M
I’m not in the practices, so I have no idea if they watch game tape or not, but they could sure learn some things from it. Why don’t they swing someone over for help defense when a player gets beat on the drive? Set up for the charge at the very least. That’s what everyone does to us when we try to drive the lane!
Sounds like Cal picked the wrong recruit. This kid looks to have way more “dog” in him than Boston or Clark ever will.
I’ve watched auburn a few times this year. They’re just like us. A collection of athletes but not a real team. Get ready for an ugly game of basketball.
It seems to be the trend for college basketball these days, honestly. The fundamentals are lacking because of AAU ball. Btw I’m not an old guy just talking about the good ole days, I’m 30. All of it is starting to be hard to watch.
Better coached and will have far and away the best player on the floor (Cooper) and play a style we’ve struggled with.
We’ll be lucky to be close much less win.
Little bit I’ve seen of Cooper kid is quickness and the ability to pass the ball off the dribble with either hand. Sheer number of 3s Auburn will shoot will doom UK. Pearl knows Cal hates that and will exploit UK again with a smaller/quicker team.
I don’t think this is going to be pretty.
I don’t think this is going to be pretty.
So nice you said it twice
Vandy looks dangerous for us right now
