Oddsmaker puts early line on Kentucky vs. Duke

With Reid Travis now in the fold, Kentucky’s season opener vs. Duke just got even more enticing, so much so that the head oddsmaker at the Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas is already being asked for an early line. “For now,” the oddsmaker believes Duke is still the better team and would be favored by 2.5 points.

Agree? Disagree? Can they make that official so I can get in on the action, please?

It will flip by tip-off and Kentucky will still be free money. 77-60 Cats.

Good luck finding someone to play off the ball for Duke lol

  4. That’s the face PJ made when he saw the line.

It’s really going to be a toss up of a game due to how early it is. Regardless of the talent, both teams have a lot of work to do to figure out how to play together and neither will be at a good point so early. I could see 2 scenarios: 1 would be a close, last possession type game with either team winning or I could see a UK blowout where we get ahead early and the young guys on duke don’t know how to respond. I think we have enough college game experience on the team to keep from getting rattled like that which is why I don’t see a duke blowout win as a legitimate possibility.

That’s why the Bahamas trip gives us a major advantage. Plus they got 1 point gaurd n 10 wings. Lots more for them to figure our than us. Plus we now have experience n vets. Well sophmore, it vets for UK. I’d still take bet with UK +2.

I meant give puke 2 points. I’d take it all the way to +3 maybe 4. I like my team

First dibs on early nicknames: “The Bad Boys.” Two big bullies in the post and a bunch of defensive minded trash talkers.

The Corleones. cuz soon as you “think that UK is out. Cal pulls us back in”. CAL is the recruiting Godfather.

The naming of beloved teams has always been fun tho, n wasn’t nothing to do with the 80s. That’s been since the 50s till atleast 90s. From runts to the unforgettables. Did 2012 or 2015 get a tag? Should.

Personally I think Duke is overrated. I could be crazy but I think that squad has a ton of holes. 1) Their recruiting class is super athletic but lacks shooting. RJ and Can are streaky. If they’re on, they can both go get 25, but when they’re off, they’re off. Zion straight up isn’t a good shooter. 2) I don’t think they have much in the post. Bolden hasn’t lived up to his potential and Zion is lacking in size. He reminds me a little of Julius Randle in his size, strength, and aggression… but like Randle, I think Zion will struggle against long big men who stay in front of him heading to the rim. 3) I think this squad will suck defensively. Coach K historically does not produce quality defensive squads with young talent. With no returning starters, I think this will be Coach K’s most difficult year to teach his defensive schemes. I just don’t see a title from them.

Good analysis. Zion isn’t 1/2 as skilled as Julius though.

Julius would straight pull up on your a** once he got comfortable in the system, even on other bigs, Zion doesn’t have that at all.

Bc of Rj barret he’s the X factor but Keldon can lock him down. And will cats by 9 and we roll to #9. Duke a fluke

And Herro will continue to leave Zion star struct as the sharp shooting underrated hero of the game.

There needs to be a place where you can bet on which oddsmakers will have a good season and which will lose.

“He considers Duke the top team and Kentucky 2nd for now”. Sounds like a bit of a predictive statement to me

No idea who will win that early in the year, but I assure you this Duke freshman class is overhyped at an insane level. Zion is an overweight, underskilled YouTube superstar. Barrett is the only real stud on the team and he’s as selfish as it gets. They’ll be horrendous defensively as well.

    • mashburnfan1
      5:54 pm June 20, 2018 Permalink

Barrett selfish? That tells me you never saw a game of his in High School. And he is not the only stud recruit Coach Krewshdgsbsfvfsryoiofbwenski got this year. I don’t know who will win, both teams have tons of unknowns, but your comments were idiotic.

In November, that doesn’t seem so far off with all the freshman that UK will be playing. If the game was in March, that’s a different story.

    I like my team.

This is just to get their name out there by poking BBN. But please let me in on this. I want to bet on if we can make Zion cry like we made Barkley

He’ll have to leave the game with a “injury” to hide the fact he is getting owned.

I guess I am old fashioned, in that it is very important to me to actually win games. But, how the talking heads predict the outcome of games and rank recruiting classes is not very interesting to me, since it doesn’t actually accomplish anything.

Come back on November 6 and they’ll have a score for you, bro. It’s gonna be a lot of that not very interesting stuff up until then.
