Numbers Game: Oregon vs. Kentucky

numbers-game

A certain five-star basketball recruit is considering the University of Oregon and the University of Kentucky for his college basketball career and he plans to announce in the very near future.

The recruit, whose name rhymes with Schmamal Schmurray, has been rumored to be leaning toward Oregon, but Kentucky is still in the picture until we hear otherwise from the Canadian prospect. He has taken visits to both schools and he knows what each have to offer.

So as Murray… I mean Schmurray… weighs his decision and plans to make an official announce soon, I thought I’d lend a hand in the process by comparing the two programs by the numbers. If he were to only go by these statistics, it wouldn’t be much of a decision at all. Kentucky is clearly the better of the two, not that you needed me to spend a couple hours on Photoshop to prove it.

Enough talk, though… Let’s play the Numbers Game!

LOL Drew, you pulled a BTI there, screwing up the very first stat comparisons on the graphic. But I understand, it’s still your birthday month.

It was all right then the first comment made me go back and fix the font. Then all hell broke loose.

If some kid needs bb stats on UK v Oregon. He should be playing at SW Florida State. You know, the one out in the middle of the gulf.

The only number that matters is which team will pay the family/handlers more. Top 5 type recruits are not playing for free.

Or a true loserville fan. Hey “Cheat”, your theory holds no water. If Cal was cheating to get his recruits, then why did so many of his targets go to other schools. They paid more, you say? Hard to believe that – there are very few schools in the NCAA with the financial might to match UK basketball. Sorry, but this myth is busted!

I actually think these articles could put off Murray. I mean it makes us appear a bit obsessive. If he wants to go here, so be it. Let’s beat them in tournament.

That very well might not even be an option for Oregon this year.

“it makes us appear a bit obsessive”…well we definitely wouldn’t want to appear obsessive as we talk basketball 365 days a year on a website devoted to UK basketball (and some football now)! (sarcasm font won’t display here:) LOL

It sounds like one of the biggest factors if he does pick Oregon is he has friends from Canada already on the Ducks BBall team. The Ducks will also be a very good team with more than likely more playing time

When one is blessed enough to be a gifted athlete or a coach, they become part of the entertainment business. And that is why they are paid insanely large salaries. They are supported by the economics of supply and demand. And it is all paid for by the FANS.

In conclusion, I cannot think of a better place for Mr. Murray TO PLAY than the University of Kentucky.
His fan base would explode like a volcano. But where ever he decides to play, I wish him very well in all his pursuits in life.

If youre a prospect, and you’re torn between these 2 schools as to who would make you a better player…….you’re really not focused on elevating your game to the next level.
Why does Drew’s stats need to be emphasized? I guarantee you our basketball facilities are as good as the Ducks, not to mention the coach that represents this university.

Cal or Altman? There’s not a fan out there that not saying, huh?

    How about this stat?

Shots per game he will be allowed to take: Oregon – 20 to 30
    Kentucky – 8 to 10

    Seems like a no-brainer to me…

It’s only a no-brainer if you’re selfish and have no interest in winning a championship. And if you’re only interested in the amount of shots you get to take, by all means, don’t come to UK!

Look what those low shot numbers did for Anthony Davis and about to do for Towns. Just sayin.

We actually have 2,216 wins. Those numbers are from the end of last year and are from Wikipedia. It says through the end of ’13-14 season.
