None of CBS or ESPN’s experts picked Kentucky to make the Final 4

If you were hoping Kentucky would fly under the radar when it comes to attention from the national media, well, you’re in luck. None of the experts on CBS or ESPN’s Selection Sunday specials picked Kentucky to make the Final Four. Here’s who they did pick:

Expert East Midwest South West Winner
Charles Barkley Villanova (1) Louisville (2) North Carolina (1) Arizona (2) Arizona (2)
Gary Parrish Duke (2) Kansas (1) UCLA (3) Gonzaga (1) UCLA (3)
Clark Kellogg Villanova (1) Louisville (2) UCLA (3) Gonzaga (1) Villanova (1)
Seth Davis Duke (2) Kansas (1) UCLA (3) Gonzaga (1) Duke (2)

Seth Greenberg Duke (2) Kansas (1) UCLA (3) Arizona (2) UCLA (3)

Guess it’s time to shock the world again.

Nate Silver at FiveThirthyEight has us projected in the Final Four with Kansas, Nova, and Gonzaga.

Nate Silver is famous because his predictions in 2012 election predictions were made more accurate thanks to a Hurricane that hit. Since then his track record has been very mixed and even bad. His model on this past election night actually had Hillary’s chances of winning the election actually increase as the night was going on after votes were already in and being counted…it’s nonsensical.

@kentuckybackupplayer Nate only had her at 60% leading up to the election. The guy knows what he is doing for the most part. He bases everything on analytics

Not even Barkley or Greenberg? Aren’t they normally willing to side with Big Blue? But again I absolutely did not want to play Carolina again after barely beating them before. And unless UK’s defense has had massive improvements, we may be a good matchup for UCLA considering their offensive prowess.
    That said….LET’S PLAY SOME BBALL!!!!!

Greenberg has long been off the UK wagon. Never had really anything good to say in 2 months. Its ACC or bust with these guys. UK will be a hard team to prep for on a 24 hr turnaround or even 5 days. We have a 3 guard lineup that will cause many offensive mismatchs for us to take advantage of. Sure they are undersized but with our guard pressure on the perimeter we have only allowed them to start offense with 15 seconds in shot clock.

Often more than one. These predictions downplaying Kentucky are the same things we’ve heard many times before and in the Final Four we go. We were predicted to lose every single game in 2014.

I was very disappointed initially with the cats draw…now I’m really looking forward to the tournament. We have a phenomenal team and they are going to prove the talking heads stupid.

Not suprising. We arent that good though… i know some of you dont think so. Even if they can beat Wichita St. I doubt they can beat UCLA. Then they gotta play Carolina. Terrible draw

Who cares what they think? If you look at the 31 ESPN “experts” who filled out brackets for the 2016 tournament:

0 had Villanova winning the National Championship, and only 2 had Villanova in their Final Four (6.45%).

0 of the “experts” had all 4 correct Final Four Teams (Villanova, North Carolina, Syracuse, & Oklahoma.)

    A scant 1 of 31 had 3 of the Final Four Teams — 3.23%.

    Only 8 out of the 31 had 2 teams correct — 25.81%.

14 out of 31 had only 1 of the Final Four teams — 45.16%.

And 7 out of the 31 did not get any of their teams in the Final Four — 22.58%.

With numbers like these, how “expert” can they be?

We just swept through the SEC tournament after winning the season championship. We are top 10 in most every metric or poll. We have an RPI of 5. We’re playing as a #2 in a region where we’ve already beaten the #1 seed. None of the experts are picking us to win it all, much less win our region. And we are flying completely under all the radar on an 11 game winning streak playing our best defense and with a new found resolve. I love it !!!!

We arent under the radar but they definitely arent giving us a fighters chance against UCLA. There is no way UCLA scores 90+ this time amd if they dont then the game dramatically goes in our favor. uCLA struggles to play well when scoring in 70s low 80s. Hell most of the reason they have wom is bc the other team cant out score them. Well UK is a team tht can go 90+. So it should be a good game. Also, how great would it be for MOnk amd Fox to outshine Ball?!?!?

I think the coaching staff needs to print off the “experts” picks and post copies all over Joe Craft. By the weekend our guys will have a chip on their shoulders the size of a damn Volkswagon bus !

    1. Why would they pick us have you seen our side of the bracket 2. I hate to be that guy I really do, but we really aren’t that good & we’re still way too inconsistent.

Yea, 11 game winning streak is inconsistent. We have found a way to win those games even when playing poorly. Have we not been our best? Absolutely, but other teams are losing just the same. The difference is our will to win is being overshadowed by idiots like you. Over the 11 games we have gotten better each game we have played, only to build on another weakness. Just bc the talking heads dont talk about you as much doesnt make you not good. We are probably playing some of the best defense in the country right now amd our half court offense is looking like a oiled machine. The great thing to know is that they are still getting better. This team is dangerous bc they can win a game playing multiple styles and also with key controbutors not playing well. 4 guys cam go 20+…. who do you try to stop? We are fine. It is the NCAA tourny so your gonna play someone good. I watched a little of UClA this yesr and when they came to Rupp they hadnt played that hot in a long while. We got this. Revenge!

There were 4 teams I didn’t want to play in this tournament. Kansas, UCLA, Duke, and UNC. But if we were going to win a championship it’s likely we would have to play two of them anyway. Maybe we end up playing three of them. Thankfully we don’t play all four. As long as Fox is healthy and doesn’t get in foul trouble this team is elite. Since Monk started taking a back seat to Fox, this team has blossomed. We’re peaking at the perfect time! Go Cats!

We really ain’t that good people. We don’t have enough size and the guards r to young and inconsistent and that’s the truth. This is not one of our greater teams
