No Wildcats among ESPN’s top 10 freshmen this week

What’s that you say? Kentucky doesn’t have any of the nation’s top freshmen? That’s unheard of!

Today, Myron Medcalf over at ESPN updated his Freshman Tracker, a ranking of 15 freshmen based on the previous week of games. The list is divided into three categories: First Five, Second Five and Final Five, and Kentucky failed to have a player mentioned in the first two groups.

Jamal Murray did make the cut in the Final Five, coming in at No. 12 in the rookie rankings. There was no mention of Isaiah Briscoe or Skal Labissiere.

The guards ahead of Murray are Kansas State’s Barry Brown, Arizona’s Allonzo Trier, Stanford’s Marcus Sheffield and Dejounte Murray of Washington.

If we’re being completely honest with each other here, I’ve never heard of three of those guys.

No surprise here. Thank God for Jamal Murray.

Jmurray is a spot shooter. If the ball hits the floor he misses his shot OR turns the ball over. I think he’s likely the 2nd most over rated player on this team. Skal is by far the most over rated and Ulis is the most under rated.

I agree. We should ship him back to Canada – and while we’re at it, fire Calipari. /s

Based on this weeks performance? Maybe. But otherwise it’s anti Kentucky bias. Having no UK freshmen in the list given our tops classes makes some sort of (stupid) statement. Whatever. Who wouldn’t take Murray if they could (at least)?

Anyone notice Isaiah doing a Rick Pitino impression?
