Nike’s New Shoes just for the Wildcats

Kentucky usually gets the VIP treatment from Nike, and this year is no exception.  The difference this year?  They’re available to fans.

The Nike Free 5.0 Trainers will be released in stores on October 30th for $110.  The UK logo (without the crooked K) is featured on the tongue of the shoe, and on the insole when you put the two shoes together.

Kinda awesome, but do I want to dedicate my tennis shoes to a team? I’ve always seen my tennis shoes as a generic thing, but does the awesomeness out weigh the lack of generic-ness? These…these are the questions.

Looks great, but will the team wear them? What does trainer mean?? I want a pair regardless.

A “trainer” is much like a running shoe, but a little more multi-faceted. Derives from “cross trainer,” meaning it’s a multi-purpose shoe. In other words, you can do many things in it.

I’m surprised it’s a Free 5.0 model. These are aesthetically awesome with all of their UK swag, but that platform is definitely not one of Nike’s best.

It’s not for the team, It’s for the public…

Those look awesome, but beware of the Free 5.0 trainers. Very thin sole, very little support. I only wear Nike runners and trainers, and that’s the one shoe I won’t use.
