A quick NBA G League update on a popular former Wildcat:
Nick Richards came off the Greensboro Swarm’s bench on Sunday to score 26 points in 25 minutes. Not impressed? He also had 10 rebounds and four blocks. Still not impressed? He made nine of his 10 free throw tries. Not good enough? What if I told you he also hit two 3-pointers?
Unfortunately Richards’ big game came in a loss (probably because he didn’t start) to the G League Ignite, the new developmental team that has some players straight out of high school, like former UK target Jonathan Kuminga, along with veterans mixed in.
It was Richards’ G League debut after he was recently sent to the G League bubble from the Charlotte Hornets. Hopefully he’ll get called back up to where he belongs soon.

Obviously Nick Richards got robbed last year of being MOP of the title game and 1st team all-american. All because of covid. He will be in the big leagues soon. It’s just the beginning right Drew? All he needed was this break out game..
Nick will make it because he stayed til he got himself right. Shame that team didnt get their chance in tournament, think they would have went on major run.
That team was the rare Cal team that shot free throws really well. With Quickley and the others solid at the line, they were able to close out games in a way many Cal teams can’t. They’d have made a deep run.
It’s a shame we didn’t get to see it..they were starting to come on.
Ageed. I hadn’t been THAT hyped for a team in several years… F’ COVID!
Bucket, Bam, and the Heat could use NR.
G League? Why didn’t he stay for another year?
If he had stayed one more year and shot 100 three-pointers a day over the summer he would likely be a lottery pick this year…….
