New mock draft has two Cats going in the lottery

Kevin Knox has long been considered the best pro prospect on this team, but a new lottery mock draft has another Cat going ahead of him. The Ringer has Shai Gilgeous-Alexander going 10th in this year’s draft, followed by Knox at 13th.

Jonathan Tjarks said Shai could fill a need for the Philadelphia 76ers.

“The Sixers have all their stars. Now they just need to fill out the rest of their team. Gilgeous-Alexander fills a need: He can guard multiple positions on the perimeter and complement their stars on offense.”

Same for Knox and the Utah Jazz.

“Knox has been Kentucky’s best player this season, which may not be saying as much as it would in most seasons. He may not be a star at the next level, but his skill set is a perfect fit for Utah. At 6-foot-9 and 215 pounds, Knox is a combo forward who can shoot 3s and create shots off the dribble, and he has the physical tools to guard on the post and the perimeter. He’s the small-ball 4 they have been looking to place next to Rudy Gobert for years.”

Before this season, who would have predicted that Shai would be a potential lottery pick, let alone top ten? Good for him.

LOL @ people who think this year’s struggles are OK because everyone is coming back and next year we’re going to be loaded.

Wait till Vanderbilt is gone as well.

We’re going to settle for 3rd place in the SEC now? Who are we? IU?

I would like to see you go play college ball and live up to the ridiculous standards made by fans like you, when you were 18.

This is the best basketball league in the country. Yes we could have one a couple more here or there, but I am proud of this team either way.

Who said everyone is coming back? I haven’t heard anyone say that. I think at least 3 will go, but I am confused how Shai leaving supports your implication. We are bringing in 3 guards, and hopefully Baker will be healthy too. Four new perimeter players to go with Quade and maybe Diallo, one who would probably be the best perimeter player on the team THIS YEAR in Johnson – our backcourt will be stacked. If Vanderbilt is the only frontcourt player to leave (and he should be the only one to consider it), yeah we will be loaded.

Poor bosch8184. Even following a college basketball team from afar is just too much for him to handle like an adult.

2kittle – Kentucky has won more SEC Championships than all other SEC teams… COMBINED. And at the moment, UK is 4th but can finish no better than 5th if they lose on the road to Florida tomorrow, which is strong possibility. So yes, despite the recent improvement in this team it is still an off year. UK fans are known for being passionate, not reasonable.

This is fantastic, does this mean that vanderbilt, washington and richards come back? If so, next year might be the year.

Hopefully Cal can convince Diallo to return. I still feel like Vanderbilt will leave.

Vando wont leave for the same reason Diallo didnt leave. He doesnt have a jump shot.

Vando will leave because he’s injury prone.

I would hope young players don’t pin their dreams to opinions like these…utter nonsense.

Diallo will leave because his ego won’t let him come back plus his position in draft won’t improve with another year of fighting with Cal.

If they want to actually get playing time, Tai W. and Sasha need to transfer.

I don’t see Gabriel getting any better in another year but he will likely play overseas whenever he leaves.

No idea on Vanderbilt but the lack of shot won’t let him be drafted in a good spot. He could benefit from another year to develop a shot.

Don’t see any others leaving unless it is to transfer to another school for some reason.

Shai, Hami, Vando, Knox are gone. Richards, Washington, SKJ, Quade, and Baker stay with Herro, Johnson, and Quickley coming in. Tai will be released from the program.
