New Bracketology sets up Kentucky vs. Duke in Sweet 16

briscoe-allen

It is Thursday and that means Joe Lunardi has a brand new Bracketology for college basketball fans.

In this week’s edition, Kentucky held down its spot as the No. 1 seed in the tournament’s South region. That honor comes with opening round games in Indianapolis against UC Irvine/New Orleans and TCU/Dayton, followed by a trip to Memphis for the Sweet 16 and the Elite Eight.

No. 2 Baylor, No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 Arizona and… Oh my… No. 5 Duke are the region’s biggest threats to Kentucky.

The thought of having to play Duke in the Sweet 16 is absolutely terrifying.

Why does anybody pay ANY attention to Lunardi’s Bracketology? It’s a good thing he isn’t a stockbroker with his record of accurate predictions.

That would be a tough bracket. But, Duke always gets a pass in the tourney and would probably land a 2 or 3 seed with an easy ride into the Elite 8. Also not sure Duke will be ready by the tourney. IMO they continue on their path of self destruction until K comes back and by then he won’t be able to fix all the problems.

Teams to be wary of are the ones that can shoot well and win close games. That hasn’t been Duke’s game all year.

Why does that terrify you? I like beating good teams. I dont understand the thought process of playing and beating scrubs… isnt thatcwhat we bash duke for every year in the tourney?

I don’t see any scrubs on that ACC schedule.

No way does Duke ever draw that tough a bracket.

My early prediction for the tournament is that Duke will finish the year similar to how the Randle/Twine years did, with about 8-10 losses during regular season and ACC tourney. UK will be a 1 or 2 seed. I then see Duke being the 8 or 7 seed that UK would play in Round 2, a ratings bonanza for the people at CBS.

Arizona, then UK? They would never do that to Dook.
