NCAA grants transfer waiver for UNLV guard Caleb Grill

Another day, another approved transfer waiver from the NCAA for a player not named Olivier Sarr or Joey Gatewood.

This afternoon, Stadium’s Jeff Goodman broke the news that UNLV point guard Caleb Grill will be instantly eligible this season after receiving a waiver from the NCAA.

Grill, a 6-foot-3 guard native of Maize, KS, transferred from Iowa State to UNLV back on April 6.

A three-star prospect out of high school, Grill saw action in 29 games as a freshman, starting the final two games of the season. On the year, the former Cyclone averaged 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 13.7 minutes per game.

In terms of a decision timeline from the NCAA, today marks four months and seven days since his commitment to UNLV on April 6.

For comparison’s sake, Olivier Sarr committed to Kentucky on May 6, while Joey Gatewood announced his transfer to UK on December 5, 2019.

How long until we hear from the NCAA about either Wildcat?

At this point I’m starting to wonder if the NCAA has forgotten all about Sarr and Gatewoods waivers
