NCAA accuses Louisville of one Level I violation, three Level 2 violations

The University of Louisville has confirmed that it received its Notice of Allegations from the NCAA. After a two-year investigation into the school’s involvement in the pay-to-play scheme in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, the NCAA is accusing the men’s basketball program of one Level I violation and three Level II violations, including one for Rick Pitino for failure to monitor.

From the UofL website:

  • A Level I allegation that an improper recruiting offer, and subsequent extra benefits to the family of an enrolled student athlete; and a recruiting inducement to a prospective student-athlete’s non-scholastic coach/trainer, were provided by certain individuals, purportedly identified and defined by the NCAA as “representatives of the university’s athletics interests,” none of whom had traditional connections to the University beyond their affiliation with Adidas or professional athlete management entities, as well as by a former assistant coach and a former associate head coach;
  • A Level II allegation of recruiting violations by the same two former men’s basketball coaching staff members in providing impermissible transportation and having impermissible contact in the context of recruitment-related activities;
  • A Level II allegation that the institution failed to adequately monitor the recruitment of an incoming, high-profile student-athlete;
  • A Level II allegation that the former head men’s basketball coach did not satisfy his head coach responsibility when he failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance;

Keep in mind, all of these violations allegedly took place while UofL was already on probation. A press conference will be held at 1:30 p.m. ET. We will have a live stream on KSR.

      LMAO! You’re the type of UofLittleBrothel fan that makes me enjoy this. Your team violated NCAA rules while on probation for violating NCAA rules, deal with it.

      The real meat is that the cheaters were/are still on probation from strippergate. No other university (Kansas, USC, LSU, etc) are in the same situation as Louisville because of that fact. They will get the most severe punishment because they were already under punishment for past problems.

    paying players, illegal recruiting…what more do you need to see?
    Death is too good for that program, and its former coach.

    Thank goodness the NCAA is ignoring the 5-alarm blazes consuming LSU, Kansas, Duke, Oregon, Arizona and North Carolina to focus on Louisville’s stupid little dumpster fire.

    Hit them with a nice fine, and call it a day. They turned everyone loose that had involvement with this. There are plenty of other schools with corrupt coaches on the payroll they can focus their energy on. Can’t wait to see who calls me a Louisville fan for even suggesting this…

    Not a U of L fan just using common sense about it.

      Common sense? They got caught using stripper/hookers to entice underage young men and while on probation for that they got caught paying another recruit to play for UofLittleBrothel. No other school has been caught in those same situations. Meanwhile Pitino gets to start a new job lying his @ss off all the way to the bank. Where’s the common sense?

    While I believe Bluballssotrue is an absolute idiot he isn’t wrong, for once. They deserve this but the only reason it’s happening this way is because Emmird*** can’t go after UK so he’s living vicariously through the other Kentucky team and he’s coming at them hard. In the time it has taken to go after Louisville repeatedly half the teams that have been good have had witness testimony under oath, recordings of a member of the staff, or a recruit saying they cheated. And while Duke didn’t have someone come out and say it the fact that Zion was heading to Kansas for money and switched to them while a coach who has been caught paying players is at least enough to investigate.
