There were a lot of new faces on the floor last night during UK’s televised practice, but the most unexpected surprise may have been Isaac Humphries. The Aussie big man is still a mystery to the BBN after arriving on campus in late August, and at only age 17, he won’t be eligible for the NBA Draft until 2017.

Most people consider Humphries a project, but last night, we saw flashes of how much potential he has. He showed off a mid-range jumper that perked the ears of all 70-something NBA scouts in the house. In fact, after it was over, one NBA scout told Adam Zagoria that Humphries was one of three best players at the practice, along with Skal Labissiere and Jamal Murray. ESPN’s Jay Williams went as far to say Humphries “could be a number one pick in a couple years.” Whoa.

As a potential top pick, that would make him Jorts on Super-soldier serum.

It’s easy to look impressive when you’re playing on a Nerf goal like that. 🙂

^ Or maybe I was just referring to the first photo that shows a backboard and rim at a distance, making it kind of look like he is shooting at a Nerf goal from that perspective?

I agree Mixxy. If Isaac overachieves as much as Jorts we will be getting number 9.

Off topic…which sections will be designated to UK fans at the Champions Classic? I had to sit in the Michigan State section two years ago, definitely don’t want to wind up in the Dookie section this year.

I don’t know how, he seemed to be exceptionally lazy letting loose balls bounce right in front of him and never hustled to get the ball just looked at it. starring at those so called 50/50 balls bounce in front of you while you just stare at it could cost us the damn game. i just dont see what they saw in him besides size. he really pissed me off watching him.perhaps my hopes were just to high for the young man knowing how desperately we need a big body like him to produce!…but eventually he will be there i just dont see it happening this year!!!..GO CATS!!!!

Wow! You watched a 17 year old kid practice for an hour and complain yet when NBA scouts watch the same practice they drool over him. I doubt if Coach Cal will be contacting you anytime soon to scout prospects for him.
