Naismith’s original rules of Basket Ball return to KU

@KUHoops
Some guy with a lot more money than me bought a couple pieces of paper for $3.8 million and gave them to the University of Kansas at halftime of tonight’s game. The paper once belonged to Dr. James Naismith and they contain the original rules of Basket Ball.
The rules will likely be displayed in that big glass case outside, where most programs keep national championship trophies. Kansas has plenty of room on that shelf for the rules.

1. First rule, Kansas gets EVERY call from the refs!
Refs turned what was a good game into a JOKE!
Next Year!!!!
Perry Ellis knows those rules. Hah! Had to get 1 last old man joke in.
When the UK Basketball Museum was still at Rupp, Naismith’s grandson came to a game and brought the original rules with him. After the game he set up in the museum so everyone could see them. It was really neat to see the handwritten rules. There were places in the rules where you could even see where Naismith had written things and then crossed them out or changed rules. I’m glad they will be on permanent display somewhere.
Nice jab there at the end of the article. It’s funny you say that because UK wouldn’t even have any history if it weren’t for KU. Maybe try paying a little respect? Just a thought….
Anyone else think it was just a coincidence they picked the UK game to do this, lol?
Some guy? David Booth. You know that atrium you should have visited if you had a chance, he generously donated to have that too. Some guy…
There is a documentary about how he got them. Might warm your heart to know he outbid a Dookie for them.
Try harder… c’mon.
