Mother of Indiana star says it’s time to get the F*** out of IU
There was a time when it was looking like Troy Williams would become a Kentucky Wildcat. The five-star prospect in the 2013 class was down to UK and North Carolina, and word was spreading that Kentucky would be the pick in May of that year, when he planned to announce.
Then things changed, for whatever reason, and Williams opened up his recruitment and left the Wildcats off his next list. He would eventually pick Indiana, where he started all 32 games as a freshman and earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore.
This year, Williams is one of the stars of the Hoosiers, but Tom Crean elected to not start him in today’s game against St. John’s.
Williams’ mother caught word of that and blasted Crean in a Facebook post:
The post went viral and she has since apologized:

Alex Legion’s mom knew she was gonna tweet that.
This, of course, made me look up Legion to find he is still playing professionally in the Qatari Basketball League with the likes of Patrick Ewing Jr and Devan Downey.
I believe I just saw Patrick Ewing, Jr. on the sidelines Sunday as Georgetown’s Director of Basketball Operations.
The 2nd is funnier for just how terrible her grammar is. The first is just plain stupid.
Things have changed a man can take a man as his wife now Spelling and grammar are out the door.
After coaching youth sports for years and dealing with parents on a daily basis, I know first-hand how much the “mama-bear complex” can get out of hand. People get totally delusional about their kids when it comes to athletic endeavors. Too bad more parents don’t approach academics with the same fervor.
I know what you’re saying, and a lot of parents think their kid is God’s gift to sports…but there are parents who approach academics like that, the ones who get teachers fired when their kid gets a B, or the ones who drive their kid to suicide because not getting an A+ or not getting a particular award is the end of the world. That kind of idiocy isn’t good in any arena, if you’ll pardon the pun.
My wife is a teacher at a private high school, and I can attest to that 100%.

I’d like to think he was “encouraged” to go elsewhere with a mommy like that. Without any inside knowledge, I’m guessing that has to be at least a factor to consider in the recruiting process.
Wonder if Williams and his mom are having second thoughts now? Further proof that if you get the opportunity to play basketball at UK for Coach Cal, you should jump at that chance.
Gonna be hard to find a new school that’s high profile when you publicly criticize the coach’s decisions like that.
The real question we should be asking is why would any high profile player ever consider playing for Tom Crean?

They barely beat St Johns….the same St Johns that lost by 32 to a high school team in the preseason. IU is freaking awful. They dont play with any effort and are the worst defensive team Ive ever seen. Heres to them keeping Tom Crean forever….
Another fine example of class and parenting. We wonder why kids grow up with little hope for a future, because way too people like that have kids.

Sorry Mom, You and He made the wrong choice in the first place..Its the main reason He would Not pick UK, or NC…Both Coach Cal and Roy Williams, did not kiss Your sons ass, and make false promises of Be a full time Starter while attending school. .I would really think that sorry ass Tom Crean, ask You Son to bend over, and bare His ass so He could kiss it. .That is WHY BOTH and YOU AND YOUR Son picked the Indiana basketball over two the winningest programs in the land…Over Your Son getting the promise of Starting ,,,,These are major signs of a selfish ego type of player, and a Mother who would not have fit in at all at UK…and I doubt He would have even fit in at North Carolina….You Helped Your Son make His Bed,,,Now He’s got to learn to sleep in it…and You got to learn to live with it..and STFU about it….let kid grow the F**k up……………..
