More video of Lynn Marshall’s profane enthusiasm

Y’all didn’t really believe I only had 20 seconds of video, did you? You know me better than that.

After a quick interview with Inside Edition in which I was asked if Lynn Marshall used the F word in the game, I decided I would give the people what they want and share one of her many F-bombs.

I also shared a clip of her telling Malik Monk to get in the weight room, one of her go-to insults throughout the afternoon:

The NCAA claims I lied about being told to delete my first video, so I’m sure they won’t have any problem with me sharing these.

Right. But if it were the other way around and were Ellen Calipari drunk and acting like an idiot, it would be okay for them to post and would be headline news everywhere. People would be demanding Cal be fired. hahaha. This woman is an idiot and I’m glad it’s being shown.

Maybe laying low hoping it blows over. I looked at her Twitter feed. Looks like a bunch of their fans started screaming law suit for claiming she was drunk. Then when she said the trash’s kid said sorry my mom is drunk they went in on saying the kid is a minor.

We’ve all seen the same behavior from Kentucky fans a million times. Or any sports fan base, really. I’m not saying she isn’t fair game, but continuously posting this stuff is just petty. We won the game.

If Drew is cool with being petty and spineless, that’s on him. But maybe consider that his childishness also reflects on our whole fanbase, KSR.

I don’t recall a UK coach having a spouse who behaved in this way, but, I also don’t know.

The difference between it being a Kentucky fan and a WS fan, is the simple fact that it’s the coaches wife. If it was just some random, drunk, corn farmer, no one would have said anything. But, it’s not a normal fan.

There’s drunk people around me at Commonwealth, and it doesn’t phase me. But, if it was Stoops’ wife and she had their same behavior? Yeah, that’s just a bit different.

    • EdC
      4:19 pm March 20, 2017 Permalink

UK did have one spouse who behaved this way but not in games. It was Gillispie’s right hand. It was a real jerk.

    • chimichanga
      4:32 pm March 20, 2017 Permalink

I disagree that the coach’s wife is somehow more deserving of criticism than any other fan. It’s just more “newsworthy” in the age of shameless clickbait.

You do score some points for “random drunk corn farmer,” though.

Seriously though, this is no joke and transcends sports by a mile. Let’s all pray Ms. Marshall is able to get the help she needs.

And btw, those who are closest to her play an important role by guiding her to the first step of acceptance. Hopefully that happens soon.

All this video shows is her rooting for her team (loudly) and then saying the f-word under her breath when something bad (for them) happens

I didn’t hear much either. I have heard fans say a lot worse (including me) but I also understand she should hold herself to a different standard being the coach’s wife. I think the bigger dilemma is the NCAA telling Drew to remove the video from Twitter and then go on to lie about it. Whatever, we beat them, lets move on to UCLA. Drew, you will hear all kinds of things from Lavar Ball come Friday night. Have the cell phone ready.

Again, it’s not her behavior that made this a national story. It’s the cover up. Now Drew’s propensity to tell the truth is being questioned, so who can blame him for posting these videos? He’s just illustrating that he was telling the truth about every part of this story.

    • kyjake
      4:12 pm March 20, 2017 Permalink

I was growing concerned we’d all missed the point. I don’t imagine Drew’s intent was to create a national story when he first posted it… I think it was more “isn’t it funny the drunk obnoxious fan (which every team has) is the coach’s wife?” And then, rather than just let it go, the NCAA overreacts (stunner!) and turns it in to a 1000 percent bigger deal.

For the record, I don’t think she’s doing anything “wrong” – being profane, potentially drunk, and loudly cheering for your team may not make you an idea role model, but is far from the most egregious behavior you could come across. As a sometimes drunk fan, I do try to resist the profanity (kids are at these games, after all), but it’s no crime to loudly cheer for your team. I do find it a particular kind of hilarious that her demanding the tweet get taken down – presumably she/Wichita State are responsible for that – made it go from a blog post to a Good Morning America story. So well done on that.

Is it just me or does everyone else cringe watching these Wichita State fans try to do a simple chant with absolutely no rhythm?! Also it looks like none of them have ever clapped before. Marshalls wife looks like she’s clapping her forearms.

While not exactly the best look, this video doesn’t show anything particularly egregious. I think if you are dismayed by a four letter word and a mild insult about a college athlete’s lack of muscularity, maybe you should stay home and avoid television, the internet, and media in any form. I agree that she should behave better as a representative of that institution, but come on, let it go.

The second video of the wife and son chanting, “Let’s go Shockers”, shows them reacting to a Derek Willis 3 at the 16:00 minute mark in the second half. That brought KY within one point. Briscoe made the next basket to put UK in the lead.
