The UofL scandal is everywhere, so much so that Mitch Barnhart was even asked about it during this morning’s press conference about game day procedures for the Thursday night game against Auburn. According to the Courier-Journal’s Jon Hale, Barnhart said UK has not been contacted as part of UofL’s internal investigation about the recruits who allegedly received “impermissible benefits” from 2010 to 2014. Understandably, Barnhart told Hale he did not want to get into the UofL news, but said he hoped the allegations are not true.
Now, you may be asking why UK could be contacted about this. Several of the recruits that were mentioned by Katina Powell in “Breaking Cardinal Rules” were also recruited by and took visits to Kentucky, namely Antonio Blakeney and Montrezl Harrell. Blakeney, who mysteriously committed to Louisville on an official visit to only decommit ten days later, may be the smoking gun in the entire scandal. Powell claims Louisville staffer Andre McGee hired her to provide hookers for Blakeney and his dad at the Embassy Suites on their official visit, and even provided a screenshot of a text message exchange between one of her employees and Blakeney referencing the meeting and a copy of the receipt for a wire transfer. Blakeney was interviewed by the NCAA regarding the matter last week.
This is too fun.
