Could Cuonzo Martin be headed back to the SEC? Jeff Goodman is reporting that Missouri has offered Martin the job and Martin, now the head coach at Cal, is reportedly mulling it over.
Martin left Tennessee for Cal in 2014 after a rough three years in Knoxville and has made a home for himself in Berkeley, going 62-39 and landing five-star prospects like Jaylen Brown (the #3 pick in last year’s draft) and Ivan Rabb. Before he was at Tennessee, Martin spent three years at Missouri State and also hails from East St. Louis, Illinois, so he’s familiar with the area.
Personally, if I’m Cuonzo, I stay at Cal, but it would be interesting to see what he could do what that job.
UPDATE: According to Evan Daniels, Martin has informed his team he’s taking another job.
