Michael Wilbon trolled BBN again today

I didn’t watch PTI today because I was busy not watching PTI today but I’m told Michael Wilbon was at it again. When discussing the new Calipari/Cleveland rumors, he said it is the perfect time for Cal to get out of Lexington. Adding to that, Wilbon still insists Big Blue Nation isn’t happy with a title (not true) and Cats fans will never be satisfied with what Calipari does in Lexington.

Now he’s just trolling.

Wilbon really said UK fans would not be satisfied with a title?

    Really? That’s laughable.

    What is his true agenda?

His true agenda is that he views us all as redneck racists for “running Tubby off because he was black”. Truth is, Wilbon is one of the biggest racists out there. Oh, wait, that can’t be true because only white people can be racists…

At first it seemed like an innocent enough comment on the side, but now that he’s seen what the response is, don’t think he isn’t trying to eat it up and get hits and views. And don’t be surprised when some idiot UK fans tweets something racist to him and he plays the race card on national TV or radio when its ever able to be brought up in the context of a conversation….when the sad truth is he is about as obvious as a racist as one can be on TV.

We get it, Mike. You’re an unapologetic racist that’s still not over the white man having success at UK after the black one settled for mediocrity, and that it somehow our fault, because everyone in Kentucky and Minnesota is very very racist, and it’s certainly not your own psychological projection.

Also, your show sucks and you’re very fat.

    • GrumpyOldDude
      8:26 pm May 14, 2014 Permalink

This is exactly correct. He’s been grinding that axe since Tubby was shown the door, ignoring how he was given 8 seasons of mediocrity before it got even a little hot on his seat.

not trying to start a war, but what 8 years of mediocrity are you talking about grumpyolddude? I don’t remember that during Tubbs tenure – he had some damn good years.

You all (“I Love It” and “GrumpyOldDude”) are part of the 2% of the base that people like Wilbon use to prove his nonsensical points to stereotype the rest of us. Tubby was not shown the door, and there were not “8 years of mediocrity”. No one watching or paying attention could say that, so therefore, you are not actual UK fans because UK fans actually pay attention to the team they support.

I’ve kind of got my fingers crossed the refund line is merely a troll trying to put BBN in a poor light. Unfortunately these types of fans have existed my entire life so while hopeful I’m not planning on it being the case.

Cal is only leaving if he can coach Lebron. The Lakers and Cavs are going to hold the position open until Lebron decides what he wants to do. He can opt out this year or next. If he opts out, the team he goes to will let him pick the coach. Cal or any other coach would be an idiot not to leave their current job to coach James.

KSR posts concerning Wilbon are the only interaction I have with the guy, He seems to be very successful at what he does and has a long running ESPN show with his name on it, so some people must like him and some people must hate him. Rush Limbaugh has used the same like-dislike, I don’t care as long as you listen and I make money, formula since the late 80’s. Good for both of them, but there are more important things in life than what media people do or say.

When did trolling turn into “if I disagree with you you’re a troll?” There’s definitely some truth to what he said. Many fans are unhappy with the one-and-done and if not for the miracle run in the tourney they wouldn’t forgive it for another season. Plus many actually came back for a change. The older, money-spending base that matters will only tolerate it if he keeps winning.
If Lebron goes to the Cavs or Lakers things are going to look very different. The timing is bad for any team wanting Cal now because of the team he has returning. It will be the favorite to win it all. If this season had flamed out I have no doubt he would have went to any team that got Lebron and needed a coach.

      11:09 pm May 14, 2014 Permalink

If you don’t care if he wins anymore championships why would you say Tubby sucks? He also had one championship to be added to a very successful ten year run. And more importantly why the heck would you possibly put Tubby in the same sentence as Gillispie?! One reason many people see race as a contributor to fan disgruntlement in the Tubby era is in seeing reactions like your’s. Where you go off on your “BLACK FRIENDS” as if their racial status somehow debases their point about Tubby. It debases it no more than your presumably white skin pulls the rug out from under your argument to the contrary.

If he were ever going to STAY, this would be the year. He had the makings of the Best Team Ever In College History. Not just on recruting potential, but actually returning most of the moving parts from the national runners-up and adding more talented players into the mix that he will have the luxury of not having to throw into the fire right away. Plus he’s getting fat paid in Lexington, probably as much as he could command anywhere in the NBA, and riding the wave from his unlikely tournament run. NEXT year, I’d worry. He’s poised to enjoy a year of God-like adulation not known in this state (or many places) since Pitino in 1996.

He is a cubs fan. He is a sad little man inside. He loves the midwest and Northwestern. He thinks Ohio State is real. He hates that the SEC has football and UK basketball. He hates our fans’ passion the most. I watch PTI because Kornheiser is a national treasure.

I watched this evening and he would jizz if Cal left UK for “the association.” Then he could rag on him for not winning enough with those cancerous NBA rosters.

Clearly Wilbon hasn’t done his homework if he truly believes what he says about BBN. I’ve lost a lost of respect for any opinion he has about any other sports issue because he has no idea how the average UK fan really feels about their basketball program or coach Cal. It’s like he’s been brainwashed by Jerry Tipton into believing that all things UK basketball are evil and do more harm than good. The reason Kentucky basketball is where it stands today is because of the fans. Nothing else. If we didn’t have passion about the program, then it would just be a lowly program just like Northwestern

Wilbon is alright. Kornheiser is better. Anyway, after reading comments from many of the posters on here before the tournament this season, I kind of understand where Wilbon is coming from. I was attacked personally many times for defending Calipari. It was amazing how fast the posters on these boards jumped back on the bandwagon after spending 2 months trashing Cal, his one and done system, and the players.

At the end I am left with the very clear impression that Cal is leaving. This not so subtle message through the media is preparing us BBN and Cleveland for what he will do if it can be arranged to get him and LeBron together. This is unbelievably depressing. Honestly, we could probably look at this month long commentary from Wilbon as the result of inside information about LeBron wanting Cal to be his next coach. This is very, very depressing.
