We’re nearing a decision for Purdue graduate transfer Matt Haarms.

According to Evan Daniels of 247Sports, Haarms has cut his list to three and will announce his decision this week.

The finalists? Kentucky, Texas Tech, and BYU.

According to Corey Evans of Rivals, the decision is expected “by the end of the week.”

After entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 6, Haarms previously cut his list to ten, with Arizona, Arkansas, Boston College, BYU, Gonzaga, Kentucky, Memphis, Minnesota, Texas Tech, and UNC Greensboro all remaining in contention.

Now, the 7-foot-3 center native of Amsterdam will decide between UK, Texas Tech, and BYU.

As a junior last season, Haarms averaged 8.6 points on 52.4% shooting, to go with 4.6 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks a game just a year after averaging 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Per 40 minutes, Haarms averaged 16.7 points (52.4% FG, 63.4% FT), 8.9 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per contest.

Come on down, big fella.

So Kentucky or the Pope… I bet the kid picks the Pope

The Pope is the spiritual leader of the Catholic faith and has nothing to do with BYU or the Mormons…..

He’s the Vicar of Christ on earth; the successor of Saint Peter.

Whatever, so much for separation of church and state. If you dig a little deeper you find out the pope is not what he’s portrayed to be, he’s the leader of one of if not the richest organizations in the world. Tell me how that makes sense with all the starvation in the world.

My bad…..had forgotten Pope was their coach. And I would give $1000 to have you call me a dumbass to my face. It would help offset your medical bills.

Do buy into the per 40 minutes he would average16 pts. His stats are what they are. Quit trying to make these transfers out to be what they have not done.

Agreed. Let’s assume all his games go to OT. What would his stats be for 45 minutes played?

We don’t need him to be a superstar. He is just a guy who would fill an area of need on this roster. I do agree that the per 40 projections don’t mean much for someone who only plays 20 minutes.

Yea, cc , per 40 stats are only is relative to a stacked team where the playing time is scarce (2015 anomaly).

At 7’3″, hopefully he can be a rim protector. They won’t need him to score 25 a game. I once heard Anthony Davis only took 10 shots and scored 6 points in a national championship game.

We definitely lack height for next year so he fills that void but excuse me if I can’t get overly excited about a guy who only played half the game for a not so great Purdue team.

So Goodman was right about his top 3 when other reports said Zona was in the mix. I’ll say he’s right about us or Texas Tech being the choice

Can’t teach size. Dude came on strong for Purdue a couple years ago too when their star (Isaac Haas I think?) got hurt in the tourney. Don’t sleep on him.

This is the missing piece for #9 .He will be a lottery pick with the big man whisper Payne and the marketing of Cal and wisdom of Justis. NBA draft has per Evan Daniels says scouts told him once he gets to Lexngton he will be atomaticallt be a lottery pick can’t grow a 7’3 and what better coach the Cal. Come on down big fella BBN loves ya baby.

Kid does not want to be a traditional post player— has stated that he wants to be a stretch 4 wing, play on the perimeter and show his outside game to the NBA.
Cal likely has told him the truth , while others are saying— sure you can play the wing, and show your outside game.
