Marcus Lee was one of the players who addressed the media this evening concerning the Louisville game and said that a few days off was exactly what the team needed to “reset” their minds following the loss to Ohio State. When asked about Marcus’ quote, John Calipari said taking a few days off around the holidays has always benefitted his teams in the past.
“I think every team I’ve had, it’s been a good time to get away. You go hard for a couple months and you just get a couple days away from each other and you come back excited. It’s a long season,” Cal said. “Historically, I’ve done this and it’s been a good thing.”
Was the break especially needed after the Ohio State loss?
“Didn’t matter, we were doing it anyways. I needed it,” Cal quipped.
In case you’re curious, the team will practice for an hour and a half tonight and again tomorrow and on Christmas to be ready for Saturday’s showdown with the Cards.
Three seasons in, Lee said he knows Saturday’s rivalry game will be intense, but he welcomes the challenge.
“Good. I don’t want to play someone that fears us,” Lee said. “I want someone to come at me with everything they have.”
Bring it, Cards.
