March Madness Monday Morning Rapid Fire

Another SEC Tournament Title:  After winning the Cats’ fourth straight, Kentucky now has 32 Tournament Titles.  It never gets old.

Shai is The Real MVP: Gilgeous-Alexander earned the honor after averaging 21 points, 6.7 assists and 5 rebounds in the SEC Tournament.  UK’s point guard had just 5 turnovers in three tournament games.  Wenyen Gabriel and Kevin Knox also earned All-Tournament honors.

Kentucky is going West:  Kentucky earned a five-seed in the NCAA Tournament’s South Region. They will take on Davidson Thursday night in Boise at 7:10 ET.  The Kentucky Wildcats are 6-point favorites over the Mrs. Tyler’s Wildcats.

This Bracket is No Fun:  Arizona, arguably the hottest team in the country with a 7-foot future lottery pick, is the four-seed that will likely face Kentucky in the second round.  The winner gets the chance to play the No. 1 overall seed, Virginia. Good. Great. Grand.

A look at Louisville’s NCAA Tournament hopes:

Kentucky could Pick Up a Commitment:  In the middle of all the bracket busting madness, D.J. Jeffries announced he will make his college decision tonight at 8:00 ET.  The small forward is considered the No. 26 player in America.  Kentucky, Alabama and Miss. State are the three finalists, but his 247 Crystal Ball is 100 percent in favor of the Wildcats.

KSR is LIVE at the Monday Marathon: Head out to Saint Matthews Mall in Louisville to see this morning’s edition of Kentucky Sport’s Radio.

Can’t Wait Another Hour? Aaron Torres recorded a quick Selection Sunday reaction podcast.  After you burn through that 40-minutes, turn on my radio show to hear how Mrs. Tyler is going to handle a match-up between her two beloved Wildcats.

Enter the KSR Bracket Challenge:  Last but not least, do not forget to enter your bracket into our contest.  Not only do you get to compete against the KSR gang, you can win some awesome prizes, like free Cane’s for a year.

P.S. Tiger is Back

How about Dickie V’s nickname for Shai, Canadian Comet. Should we try to make that catch on?

This isn’t 1995, nothing Dicky V blathers out is cool, funny or interesting. Remember that kids.

We could start calling Rick Pitino “the most honest guy we know” too if Vitale gets to decide people’s nicknames

Arizona is hot, true. Won 8 of their last nine. However our Cats are on a pretty good roll of their own and I’m pretty sure we’ve won 7 of our last 8. And…don’t bet against Tiger. He will soon have that putter dialed in

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but this is the 31st championship. The 1988 got vacated. Sucks too because the 1988 tournament was one of the first I remember watching with my dad.

The argument to be made to say UK and Arizona both got screwed is this. Oklahoma gets rewarded for its early season wins, which is OK with me. On the other hand, UK and Arizona are two of the hottest, most relevant teams in the country right now. To say that Oklahoma’s early success got them in, then why was conference tournaments not taken into context as well? Before the conf tournaments, UK was a projected 5 seed and I think Zona a 3-4. UK wins one of the best conference tourn and Arizona wins the Pac 12 and they stay at their projected seed? To top it off, Virginia is the top overall seed and their reward is to have 3 of the top 15 RPI rated teams in the country, in their bracket.

And Duke came out of it pretty good. Oklahoma shouldn’t have got in it, but we all know why they did. I’ll sure be pulling for them if they get a shot at those Devils

Who knows? Maybe ESPN will release the tape of Sean Miller talking about paying a player this week and AZ will pull him off the bench again?

Look not identifying that UK’s bracket is always going to be one of the hardest paths to the championship every year is not identifying the reality that the NCAA is doing that because UK draws the biggest ratings every year.

Do we get screwed by being miss seeded or having someone like Arizona go from what should have been a 2 seed to the worst 4 seed, most seasons?…..Yep.

It is what it is. UNC is the top 2 seed and has 10 losses with one being at home to Wofford. Shouldn’t a quadrant 3 loss hurt seeding? The reason all this stings is that the tourney is all about match ups. UK more than not has to go through the 2011/2014 roads. While UNC has a 1 seed that lost to Nova by a combined 40.

Sighhhh…. Ratings/$$$$$ will always muck up our bracket.

The NCAA sees UK / Zona as UK / Wichita St. Part 2…. That game had crazy ratings, especially for an early round game.

Money maketh the miseeding. Ratings people.

My question guys is has either virginia or arizona really played anybody during regular season that’s worth noting besides just virginia beating duke that’s it . I guess what im trying to say is we can give both those teams in we’re gonna give them all the competition they did not see during regular season or conference tournaments Lets go Cats!

LOL, Virginia won the ACC. They beat Rhode Island, UNC twice, Duke, Clemson, etc.

AZ beat won the pac and beat TaMu and Bama in the non-conference.

I think we are hitting our stride right now, but Zona and UVA are two of the hottest teams not named Kentucky, in the country.

So ??? In just about every team you named is are no threat except for maybe duke that’s it i think we got the better team between the three in our schedule reflected harder than either of their teams period Az has one player with star quality in Virginia has had a pretty easy run besides duke in unc being in the way

Im just not sold on either of these teams being a powerhouse team as they are being projected their not our 2012 championship team with davis neither one we have a big shot to get through these teams with smothering defense in length in 2 point guards coach will have them young guys prepared
