Malik Monk’s New Tattoo is Epic

malik-monk

Malik Monk posted a picture on Instagram today of his finished chest tattoos and they are incredible looking. Monk looks to be paying tribute to an outdoor basketball court in his hometown when he references “The Woodz”. Some Googling makes me think that Monk’s referring to Woods Creek neighborhood in his hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas.

never leave my brothers!!! #godsgift

Among others, Monk also has a really cool logo of his MM initials farther down his chest which already appears to be some branding for a future shoe deal. *Looking at you Nike*

Does Malik’s tattoo stack up as the best tattoo on the team? I think we’ll have to ask Derek Willis if he thinks so. Willis got this tattoo on his chest last year of some sort of owl holding a skull surrounded by flowers. Maybe. I can’t really tell exactly what he was going for.

Ouch

Who do you think has the better tattoo? Let us know in the comment section.

I bet there is one thing we can all agree on though. That this is the worst tattoo of all time. And it isn’t even close.

    Willis’ skull is a “Dia de Muerte” skull. When they’re in color, they’re really neat.

    Good guess, but nope. The Woodz is their name for this court they play on in his real hometown of Lepanto in East Arkansas, about 4 1/2 hours away from Bentonville. He only moved to Bentonville to play in a larger classification and be closer to his brother, who was really more his coach than his high school coach.

    So will the ncaa make Pitino remove his tat when they strip that I’ll-gotten title?

    Haha. You can’t tell much of what’s going on can you Brett? Stupid. Trying to bust some Willis balls to promote your Monk post.

      this wasn’t a post so much as a call for crowdsourcing his research. he did “some googling” but still:
      – took a guess on the woodz that was wrong;
      – didn’t realize the mm logo was famous;
      – couldn’t begin to guess what willis’ “was going for”, despite the fact that tyler posted this past year about a foxsports story on willis that included the meaning of this tattoo.

      i think the simplest fix for the article at this point would be for him to go back and add little question marks at the end of all the sentences.

    If you had to put one of the three anywhere on your body which would you choose? Can’t believe I am saying this but I might choose Pitino’s tattoo- could hide it on a butt cheek.

    I don’t think Monk will be able to claim the Maybach Manufaktur logo as his own.

    If Malik refers to it as God’s gym, you may want to get it right – The Woodz is in Lepanto, AR. Bentonville’s gym belongs to the Waltons, not God.

    the “MM” is a logo for “Maybach Music” that just happen to be his initials. Pretty sure Rick Ross won’t let him take that logo and put in on a shoe
