Add another one to Malik Monk’s trophy case.

This time it comes from the Sporting News, which named Monk one of its All-Americans today. Monk was selected to the the Sporting News’ second All-America team, among the likes of Luke Kennard (Duke), Nigel Williams-Goss (Gonzaga), Dillon Brooks (Oregon) and Josh Jackson (Kansas). Lonzo Ball (UCLA), Josh Hart (Villanova), Frank Mason III (Kansas), Justin Jackson (North Carolina) and Caleb Swanigan (Purdue) make up the first team.

The Sporting News is one of the four NCAA-recognized All-America teams that are NCAA used for its consensus All-America teams. The Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches are the other three entities in that group.

I think the second team could beat the first team in a best of seven series.
