With the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline fast approaching, LSU just got even more good news.
Rising junior guard Ja’Vonte Smart and All-SEC freshman Trendon Watford will both return to LSU for the 2020-21 season. Smart shared the news on Twitter while a source informed Adam Zagoria of Watford’s intentions. Earlier today, Darius Days also announced he was withdrawing his name from the draft to return to Baton Rouge for his junior year.
Last season, Smart averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game; Watford 13.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game; and Days 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Emmitt Williams is the only LSU Tiger to keep his name in the draft. Rising senior Charles Manning (7.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg) withdrew his name back in April.
Elsewhere in the SEC, John Petty announced he is returning to Alabama for his 193rd season, Mississippi State’s Robert Woodard is staying in the draft, and we’re still waiting to hear for sure what Tennessee’s Yves Pons will do. Sean Farnham tweeted earlier that the Frenchman is coming back to Knoxville, but not so fast…
Just got a call on Yves Pons…Was told by a source that he was 100% to return @Vol_Hoops…now being told he is having second thoughts but still leaning to return to Rocky Top! Stay tuned…
