In a move that feels like it’s been coming for centuries, LSU has decided to finally part ways with Johnny Jones. According to The Times-Picayune, Jones will bet let go after the Tigers end their run in the SEC Tournament. (So, probably tomorrow night after they play Mississippi State.)
In six seasons with LSU, Jones is 90-71, 42-48 in SEC play. After LSU failed to make the NCAA Tournament last year despite having the number one draft pick in Ben Simmons, many thought Jones would be gone; after LSU managed to win only two SEC games this season, the Tigers couldn’t avoid making the move any longer.
So, both the Missouri and LSU jobs are open. (There were rumors Georgia was going to fire Mark Fox, but this morning, athletic director Greg McGarity put a stop to those…for now) Come on down, Tom Crean and Mark Gottfried?
