LOOK: Kentucky will wear Nike’s new self-lacing shoes vs. Auburn

A year ago, Kentucky was one of the first teams to try out Nike’s new self-lacing shoes, the Adapt BBs. On Saturday vs. Auburn, they’ll try out the new version, the Adapt BB 2.0s. John Calipari surprised the team with the new sneakers tonight:

Since the shoe debuted last year, Nike has made a number of improvements to the design, including a stretchable ballistic mesh for easier access and an Air Zoom Turbo cushioning unit on the forefoot of the midsole. Ja Morant debuted the shoes back on January 20:

If you’re not a Kentucky Basketball player and want the Nike Adapt BB 2.0s, they will release exclusively in Chicago on Feb. 13 for NBA All-Star Weekend followed by a global release on Feb. 16. They retail for $400.

I thought the last time we tried these we had a bad game and a few players changed shoes during the game. They are butt ugly too!!

I hope they got those things working reliably now. Last I saw those were having reliability issues, but that was probably a year ago.

Why not use these all week in practice? Instead of just rolling them out for warm ups of the most important SEC matchup of the year? Lol

Last year someone on the team did exactly that…which is why I bring it up.

Do we really need technology to tie our shoe for us now? I am all for new tech, convenience and stuff but come on man!

Is is going to tie them to your liking? Some like a really tight fit others not so much. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Tie your own damn shoes and you’ll know it’s done right! What a gimmick, next they’ll have a shoe that you pump up or something LOL.
