Latest Bracketology pits Kentucky vs. Northern Kentucky in opening round

Selection Sunday is tomorrow, which means there’s only one day left to get your fill of Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology. Lunardi’s latest projection keeps Kentucky as the two-seed in the South Region, starting its tournament run against a familiar foe: Northern Kentucky.

North Carolina aside, I don’t really mind this bracket. In fact, if we could print it up right now, I would.

Other things to note:

  • Five SEC teams in right now: Kentucky (2), Florida (5), South Carolina (7), Arkansas (9) and Vanderbilt (10). No other teams on the bubble
  • Louisville is down to a three-seed
  • The four #1-seeds: Villanova, North Carolina, Gonzaga, and Kansas
  • Duke’s up to a two seed. Because of course.

See it all for yourself over at ESPN.

Lunadi has no coue what the committee will do–no clue whatsoever.

Well of course this won’t happen. The selection committee NEVER puts teams in a bracket just for the sake of interesting matchups…

Not gonna complain too much about Duke, their bracket has a lot of bad matchups for them (UCLA)

Duke will never get that bracket….the committee knows they’d never get to the FF.

They have to give dUKe an easy road since they were anointed NCAA champs before the season began. They were a lock to win it all.

Not gonna worry about it yet since Lunardi usually gets half of the teams wrong anyway.

After beating Loserville and UNC back to back Duke is starting to look like the team that was favored to win the title with all that talent. I hope that isn’t the case.

Duke looks good when they hit the threes…not so much when they don’t. The 4 fouls on Berry last night wrecked NC; especially when Roy left him on the bench way too long, >15 min down to <5 min.

Duh….you do know any team looks good when they hit threes right. The NCAA tourney is the greatest thing in sports because any team can be hot one game and beat a better team. The best team overall seldom wins the title. Is why coaches that win multiple titles are dang good coaches, is hard to do over and over. Is why, well that and watching games, I don’t consider Cal a great coach. Had more talent last 12 or so years yet can’t win titles. If you have the best team over and over great coaches would win multiple titles. At Memphis and now at UK he plays in sorry conferences so gets a basic bye to the sweet 16 usually meaning just have to win 4 games. Is no secret great players make you a great coach, is why UConn wins titles when they had players, now they don’t and same coach is losing. Same at many schools like UCLA, Alford had done nothing in his career and now he is being called a great coach out West. No, he got some better players.

BBN( you don’t deserve that name…although we know it is sarcastic based on your posts) You readily admit that any team can randomly be hot and beat a better team then lambast Cal for not winning more NCs when you have literally given a major reason above.
      Argument FAIL. Duh.

WeareBBN: I was saying Duke lives and dies by the 3 pt shot if you can follow that.
If you don’t like Cal and you can’t support UK, go on over to the Puke sites…I’m sure they would appreciate your somewhat limited reading comprehension and knowledge of the game.

I’ll believe that bracket when I see it. Without seeing his other projected brackets I would guess that was the “weakest” one relatively speaking, so don’t get your hopes up. For sure nobody in this bracket that would stop UNC before the 8, and I could see UK getting to the Elite 8 too in this scenario. Against UNC would be a toss up.

Eh the suggested brackets are garbage. UK, Oregon, and Arizona have less losses than UNC. As we’re all aware UK has already beaten them this year. Lunardi/Emmert have to have an ACC team as a 1. Just because Duke wins 2 straight doesn’t mean they should shoot up like they have. They should’ve been a legit 5. Move them up to a high 4 or low 3. Let’s not forget that they dropped 2 straight and moved up in the top 25. Apparently UNC loses and doesn’t move an inch. NCAA has to make sure preseason champs have the easiest walk to a final four. They’ll be graciously given a 2 seed. Their 1 will be Gonzaga.
