Latest Bracketology has UK as the 2-seed in the West Region

lunardi-toosoon

Is it too soon for Bracketology? Yes, but it’s the first Monday morning after the holidays and we need distract us from being back at work. Joe Lunardi released his latest projections for this year’s NCAA Tournament and has Kentucky as the 2-seed in the West Region, playing their first round games in St. Louis:

Here are Lunardi’s 1- and 2-seeds:

1-seeds

  • South: Oklahoma
  • East: Maryland
  • Midwest: Michigan State
  • West: Kansas

2-seeds

  • South: North Carolina
  • East: Virginia
  • Midwest: Xavier
  • West: Kentucky

These will change a million times before March, but let’s just hope the Cats do enough to secure the #1 or #2 spot in the South Regional at the Yum Center in Louisville.

Will change as soon as we beat Kansas on January 30. Way too soon to be predicting seeds.

Not sure why Kansas/UK would ever go 1-2 in a tourney bracket after playing the regular season at the end of January?

Why should there be an expectation for rematches in the tournament?

UK always has to play rivals or rematches. NCAA does it every time.

With the fan following UK has there is now way we go out west. But that being said that would be an easy region to be in.

Yes, I know it will change 56746483 times before March but its fun to look through and talk about. That bracket is a BEAST. Lunardi always has UKs bracket full of rematches and teams we have alot of “History” with. Fun to talk about in January, but no real point.

That Kansas game will be HUGE for the team moving forward into the second half of conference play and the tourneys

Gonzaga w/ a former player. Wichita St. rematch. Duke rematch. Kansas/Indiana. Cincy rematch. It’s crazy.

Kansas game not really that big. A loss to a non conference team will make no difference to UKs seeding. Cats just need to run the table on the SEC and they are a shoe in for no less than a 2 seed.

The only real takeaway I get from this is Kansas is the only higher-seeded team we have a chance to play before March, so winning that game is important if we want to take their seed from them.

Absolutely not too early to be predicting the brackets. Most schools are mostly done w/ non-conference games and you can make a good educated guess as to how their conference games will play out. I bet at least 6 of these top 8 seeds will end up as 1 or 2 seeds.
