Kevin Knox now projected to be a top ten draft pick

With one week left until the NBA Draft, it appears teams are starting to realize how much upside Kevin Knox has. Knox is now considered a top ten pick in new mock drafts by ESPN and The Athletic. Both project he’ll end up with the New York Knicks with the ninth pick.

“While we’ve had Knox sliding to the Nos. 12-15 range the past few months after an up-and-down freshman season, NBA teams drafting in that range say they don’t anticipate him being there, as there seems to be a significant market for his services in the Nos. 7-11 range,” Jonathan Givony writes. “There’s a significant market in the NBA for combo forwards in his mold who can make an open shot, defend multiple positions and offer some offensive versatility. He’s one of the youngest players in this draft, so he still has plenty of room to continue to grow.”

Knox worked out for the Knicks on Saturday, reportedly going head-to-head vs. Michigan State’s Miles Bridges. He’s also worked out for Orlando (No. 6), Chicago (No. 7), Charlotte (No. 11), and the Los Angeles Clippers (Nos. 12 and 13). According to Keith Pompey, the Philadelphia 76ers, who have the tenth pick, are expected to bring him in for a workout as early as tomorrow.

Also of note: The Athletic’s Michael Scotto has Jarred Vanderbilt sneaking into the first round and Wenyen Gabriel sneaking into the end of the second round, Wenyen’s first appearance in any of the major mock drafts.

“In a league where stretch fours are always given a chance, Gabriel will get one at some point,” he writes.

Here’s where Kentucky’s five prospects stand in the mock drafts with one week to go:

Not surprising in the least. These mock drafts know little to nothing when evaluating players. Knox always projected as an obvious lottery pick in this draft. Mock draft guys are just getting this info. They can’t evaluate anything.
