The wait is almost over, Big Blue Nation.

After one report came out yesterday that Kentucky was in a “great spot” with Virginia Tech graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr., Evan Daniels of 247Sports is now reporting that a decision is “extremely close.”

With no more visits on the table, the national recruiting insider says the announcement could come as early as Sunday.

On Friday, Corey Evans of Rivals.com told the Herald-Leader that he felt it was down to two schools for the top available grad transfer: Kentucky and Tennessee.

“I think Kentucky is in a great spot with him,” Evans said. “Right now, it’s Kentucky or Tennessee for him.”

Blackshear, who is coming off his official visit to Kentucky earlier this week, averaged 14.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior this past season. The Second-Team All-ACC selection also led the Hokies with 28 total blocked shots and ranked third on the team with 83 assists overall.

I guess Kerry is the better player but Reid is such a class act. I’m sure Kerry is class as well.

After all he was 2nd team All ACC in a conference that had 6 players taken in the lottery.

Why is anyone comparing Reid and Blackshear? That’s just stupid. Reid has exhausted his eligibility. Must be a UL fan to say something so irrelevant and pointless

One thing is certain, the young man doesn’t make decisions that aren’t well thought out. Hoping to see him aboard and making us the most solid team to cut down the nets.

Or he’s carefully weighing his options, which is the responsible thing to do. Then nerve of him not deciding on our timeline.

Or..He has a life changing situation he is contemplating. Gee wizz people. Think before you speak!

Precisely, it is potentially a life changing situation. He has to weight several factors including his role on the team, teammates, chance to be on a championship caliber team, media exposure, team chemistry, coaching staff, etc. He has one season left to get to the promised land and he has to make it count. I would take my time, too. Cal is holding the winning hand and I would be surprised if we don’t see him in a wildcat uniform.

Nice, Virginia; UK has all your boxes checked. But, maybe he just likes orange, and that lets UT and Florida in the game.

If being on a national championship contending team is a factor for him, and it’s between Kentucky & Tennessee.. then I believe this decision is a no brainer.

Getting to the NBA is most likely his #1 factor. He can get there from either school and will play more minutes at TN. No brainer.

Yeah, UT guys went #22, #42, and #57 the other night; and it’s the first time the Vols have ever had 3 draft picks…but, I guess that’s getting there, LOL.

Actually no, But I still believe he returns to VT, He just hasn’t seemed excited about any of his visits.
