Kentucky will look to break College Gameday at Rupp losing streak

On Saturday, College GameDay will return to Rupp Arena for the eighth time. Recent history suggests that’s a bad sign for Kentucky vs. Kansas. The Cats have lost their last three GameDay games at Rupp Arena:

Kentucky in College GameDay games at Rupp Arena

2/19/2005 Mississippi State at No. 5 Kentucky Rupp Arena W, 94-78
2/10/2007 No. 1 Florida at No. 18 Kentucky Rupp Arena L, 64-61
2/13/2010 No. 12 Tennessee at No. 2 Kentucky Rupp Arena W, 73-62

1/28/2017 No. 2 Kansas at No. 4 Kentucky Rupp Arena L, 79-73
1/20/2018 Florida at No. 18 Kentucky Rupp Arena L, 66-64

Kentucky has also lost its last three games vs. the Jayhawks: the Champions Classic last season and the SEC/Big 12 Challenge in 2016 and 2017. On the flip side, Kentucky did win its last GameDay game at West Virginia last season. Let’s hope that’s the only streak that continues on Saturday.

If you’re interested in going to GameDay, the show starts at 11 a.m. Admission is free and doors open at 9 a.m. After watching last night’s game, I just hope they don’t talk about Duke the whole time.

IMO we will dominate Kansas. Way Our bigs have been playing can easily see us winning the rebound and points in the paint by 10+ in each category. Hopefully Rupp will have some life to it and be a wild and crazy environment being a top 10 showdown.

I hope you’re right about Rupp Arena. I believe our team sometimes plays as passive as the crowd, which seems to be rather sleepy at times. Would love to see students all the way around the court about the first 10 rows but know it will never happen. We’ll just have to depend on the country club crowd to get the team fired up. So all you clubbers out there, do your part Saturday.

hender, I still wish they could incorporate the idea of an elevated playing surface with a “mosh pit” of students surrounding the floor at waist level. That way all the blue bloods wouldn’t have their view obstructed, and we would have plenty of noise and craziness courtside.

I love that Cal is about the players and helping them pursue their dreams, and he does his part to support the community at large. However, sometimes I wish he would use his considerable clout to throw a bone out to the fans – and not the wealthy donors, but the students and everyday fans. And I’m not talking about signing autographs, but maybe working to get some kind of charity game at Memorial that would be GA, and maybe make it a game against an in-state school. If that game was offered to non-season ticket holders, the crowd would be off the charts. Maybe break out some new uniforms with an old-school vibe to them for kicks.

Home court supposed to be everything in sports but ours is very passive and makes me feel bad for our team at times. Has anyone noticed since conference play our guys are smiling and truly enjoying the environment on the road?

I like your ideas RCF. It seems like we play better away, where the crowds are rowdy. Imagine how our players would be fired up with a rowdy home crowd.
