Kentucky vs. Buffalo game time set for noon on November 16

The Cats have five Sunday games this season, which could cause some serious conflicts for all you NFL fans. This morning, UK announced that the November 16 game against Buffalo will tip at noon on ESPNU, which makes things slightly easier on the DVR.

If you’re wondering, DeWayne Peevy told us earlier this summer that UK scheduled so many non-conference games on Sunday this year because attendance was down during late weeknight games at Rupp.

wow…the Bills play that Thursday at Miami and then have to come to Rupp to play us? Tough road stretch for sure. Maybe Jordan Gay can make a side trip to Danville.

There’s not a single UK basketball game prior to mid-March that could get me to watch something other than any Sunday slate of games in the NFL.

This sucks. I can’t EVER attend a noon Sunday game, and the late weeknight games were really the only ones I could ever make. Crap!

Yes, to solve the problem with late weeknight games let’s schedule games during a time that many in KY are in church. Brilliant!!!!

    What about early weeknight games?

The time depends on TV, and UK often gets the late spot because ESPN knows UK fans will stay up and watch.

Well maybe all you bible thumpers can actually do something good for the team and go to church and pray for a win and the rest of us will cheer them on.

Hate the Sunday games conflicting with church time.

    Talk about epic stupidity.

Scheduling against peon opponents going up against the NFL and folks Church attendance.

If Dwayne Peevey has the sense of a Pistachio, he’ll make those TBA’s in the evening or their is no chance of improved attendance.

    Pikeville
    Buffalo
    Montana State
    Providence
    EKU

    vs.

The NFL & Church? Seriously ignorant Dwayne.

As Mrs TT pointed out a few posts up, it depends a lot on TV scheduling too. I went to a few of those late weeknight games last year and it seemed like the upper 1/4 of Rupp was pretty empty for most of them, even the conference games.

As far as competing with church… well, KY Basketball is kind of its own religion. These games are only for the truly fanatical anyway, I mean honestly, who’s amped about the EKU game? Nobody was going to go to these games anyway, especially if they were a 9 o’clock tip on a weeknight. They’re kind of the equivalent of a minor saint’s day on the Christian calendar, nobody’s taking off work and getting the family together for these.

A bunch of the elderly people at my church have season tickets and they’ll give them away. So maybe it’s a genius move to make the crowd a little livelier?
