Kentucky up one spot in Coaches Poll

The Cats’ AP ranking may not have changed but they climbed one spot in the Coaches Poll. Kentucky is now the No. 9 team, behind Virginia and ahead of fellow SEC member Auburn.
Louisville remains No. 1 and Ohio State jumped to No. 2 from No. 6. Kansas, Maryland, and Duke round out the top five. Didn’t take long for the Blue Devils to creep back up, did it?
December 21-28 is going to be a big week…

6 Comments for Kentucky up one spot in Coaches Poll
We had 2 starters out and another injured in our only loss, but Duke is still ranked higher than us despite losing to a worse opponent at full strength.
i wish I could feign surprise… how’s this “there’s gambling in Casablanca?!”
Id say Stephen F Austin would probably be 15 point favorites over Evansville. They also beat Michigan St at Michigan St by more than UK beat them by on a neutral court and still have the win over Kansas and a road win in the ACC. It makes sense.
Ryan, no disrespect, but… I have no clue what you’re talking about. SFA hasn’t beaten Michigan St or Kansas. When they beat Duke it was the single largest underdog win ever. And Evansville has quite a few transfers that have played in big time programs. So, no… SFA would not be 15 point favorites.
If UVA is the 8th best team in the country then this is the weakest college basketball has been in a long time. They are awful. And there is no way UNC should be in the top 25. Worst UNC team in quite some time.
We haven’t had a signature win thus far, when you discount the fact that Michigan State is much weaker than originally anticipated. Duke played a stronger game against the Spartans and also beat Kansas. I think their ranking is about right when you consider that it is a soft year in college basketball. We have beaten a bunch of cupcakes and need to prove ourselves against true competition. Wins against Ohio State and Louisville will go a long way is establishing ourselves as a contender.
