Kentucky took an early lead and hung on to beat Tennessee 77-64, the Wildcats’ first win in Knoxville since 2015.
For 40 minutes UK led by about eight points, taking a lead 2:30 minutes into the game and never letting go. A pair of long threes by Santiago Vescovi cut the UK lead to four with just over eight minutes to play. Once UK ended the scoring drought, the game never got any closer, cruising down the stretch to a double-digit victory.
Four Wildcats scored more than 13 points. Johnny Juzang knocked down all three of his three-point attempts to score a career-high 13 points. Immanuel Quickley led all scorers with 18 points, Tyrese Maxey scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half and Nick Richards chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Kentucky improves to 18-5 on the season and 8-2 in conference play to put UK in a three-way tie at the top of the SEC standings.
