So Duke loses and drops from #1 to #3?

Yeah because they lost by 2 points to the current number 1 team? Lol UK fell so far because we got our ass beat. We are lucky we didn’t fall farther

yea, they lost by very few points to the now top team. Most anybody would only drop a spot or 2 in that case. Why complain, anyone that thinks UK is a top 10 team in crazy. Might be top 15 by end of the season but no where close to top 20 right now.

Literally hundreds of experts, and actual OFFICIAL rankings would suggest that they are, indeed, a top 10 team. Otherwise, that 10 beside our name would be pretty silly there mashpipe

I’m not arguing about the rankings, but seeing mashburnfan1 say “why complain” is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. 99.9% of your comments are complaints LOL

Rankings don’t really matter but UK is definitely a top 15 team Mashburn unless you think powerhouses like Iowa and Virginia Tech are better. One lopsided loss doesn’t take away the talent on the roster.

What I’d like to see before UNC and Kansas is a team that will give us fits and have this group play from behind to get a win. These cupcake games are good practice for a young team but we need someone to really test them to get more benefit for conference road games and March.

You can tell mashburnfan is a UL fan/troll because his posts got meaner and stupider after Saturday’s beatdown.

Don’t try to talk sense into the Chicken Little part of fan base. One early season loss and it’s time to cancel the rest of the season and get ready for next year, so they can do it all again.

Will be interesting to see if our #10 ranking holds. We have been playing cupcakes following the Duke game, but Kansas and UNC are on the horizon and will provide a true test. Kentucky needs to step up soon in order to remain a top 10 team. I think we have the talent to be a top 10 or even a top 5 team. My concern is that our talent is not being fully utilized. It is like putting regular gas in a Corvette and driving it around in third gear with the parking brake partially set.

What exactly is the talent your eluding to? Shooting? Nope, Defense? Nope, Playmaking? Nope. Will they perform better in most areas sure but this team doesn’t have a lot of “talent”. They have a lot of highly rated all-Americans sure, they have failed to show much talent so far. They might be more efficient shooters if Cal implemented a drive and kick offense to get them better looks, that isn’t likely because that would mean he adjusted and he doesn’t do that.

Calipari’s offense has literally always been predicated on driving first, and passing out of it if you don’t get straight to the right rim. That means kicking out if help comes from the wing. It’s called dribble drive. I’m sure you’ve heard about it, and I’m guessing probably even complained about it. Either way, looks like it’s time to make up something new to complain about..

bigblue must be an English professor based on that paragraph he/she typed. Sentence structure on point, possessive adjective instead of a contraction, highly intellectual information, etc. Don’t blame them if they don’t actually know what they’re talking about.

bigblue’s last sentence proves he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or even watching.

Talent is literally the one thing we do have. That’s why we looked so good in the Bahamas. It was just straight talent overwhelming those other teams. Now that Cal has implemented more complex schemes, players have to think more, and it slows them down, out of their natural instincts. We could beat teams completely by being more talented in December, but until that offense and defensive strategy clicks with the talent, it’ll look ugly. Once it clicks though, we’re a really, REALLY talented team.

Nailed it . They’re thinking about what cal is saying so much their not even having fun most of the time .

    • IrishCat
      3:49 pm November 26, 2018 Permalink

And that’s all part of the process. As a player you have to think about doing things the right way as long as it takes until it becomes natural, and not one little bit sooner. The difference between Cal and K is that Cal makes players improve bad habits and K will hide bad habits in order to win in the short term. K’s strategy may arguably lead to more collegiate success, but Cal is by far a better teacher of the game.

I know he runs what he likes to call dribble drive. Watch some film and tell me how much driving and kicking your seeing, I bet not much. Cal doesn’t improve players and his top players in the NBA were can’t misses. If your giving Cal credit for Wall, Davis, Cousins or Towns you don’t know basketball, everyone of those players improved after leaving Cals stagnant offense. I can name more than under achieved and fell off after playing for him if you’d like.

Don’t ever compare K to Cal again, it’s not close. K can actually coach and now that he is recruiting one and done players it’s game over. Cal keeps saying it’s a process while Duke and their freshman are firing on all cylinders this should tell you how dumb he thinks fans are.

As far as the look test, that seems about right. Maybe Virginia a couple too high , but all and all about right. Such a long season and I’m not worried about our young Cats one bit. They may even drop to 14-18 in the rankings at some point though out the year, but I would bet by March we’re a top 3-6 ranked team with a scary man to man defense and Can’t stop it offense!!! No one, will want to see the cats in the tournament. NO ONE!!! Guys this will be a great team when it’s all said and done. We have a special group that’s just learning to play defense together and when they do. WOW. I honestly think this group, will end up being one of our best by the end of the season. Thank you , support these young Cats! Go Cats.

We are only a few steps above suck, so a #10 ranking is a bit absurd. I’m hoping for a big improvement going into SEC play or we are in trouble.

This team should be pressing EVERY damn time on a made shot!!!! Cal has the players and depth to do it without a doubt. They should have been honing this press ALL November and December against these cupcakes.
Every year Cal says “this should be a good pressing team” and very seldom will use it. I just can’t understand why.
