Kentucky stays at No. 8 in new AP Poll; Ohio State up to No. 3

Kentucky could face two top-three teams in a one-week span.

The Cats stayed at No. 8 in the new AP Poll. Ohio State, Kentucky’s opponent in the CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 21, moved up from No. 6 to No. 3 while Louisville, who will come to Rupp Arena on Dec. 28, remains the No. 1 team in the country. After losing to Duke, Michigan State dropped from No. 11 to No. 16. So much for that marquee win.

Two other SEC teams made the top 25: Auburn at No. 12 and Tennessee at No. 19. Florida, Georgia, and LSU also received votes.

Having faced a bevy of cupcakes and a weak Michigan State team, thus far, the rest of this month will tell us if we are a contender or a pretender. Arguments can be made both ways, but hoping that it’s the former.

I knew they wouldn’t keep Duke below Kentucky for long. Crybaby Coach K ??

I love how teams rise in the rankings shortly before head-to-head matchups. Kinda like the way UK, KU, MSU & Duke have all had very high pre-season rankings since the Champions Classic started. To me, rankings are no longer anywhere near reality until mid-January or later.

How is Kansas a head of Ohio State? Ohio St would crush Kansas hell I think they would beat Louisville. Louisville is good but they really haven’t beat anyone besides Michigan. Ohio State is scary good. UofL may be a bit better defensively but no question Ohio State is the best offensive team in the country as well as the most complete team in college basketball right now.
