In what was mostly a feel-good romp, Kentucky beat Winthrop today 87-74. At times, the Cats looked the best they have since the Bahamas, but at other times, bad habits reared their ugly heads, especially on defense.
PJ Washington had 19 points and 11 rebounds, his second straight double-double of the season. Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively. The Cats shot 56.4 percent from the floor, 38.9 percent from three. Yet again, their opponent was hot from the outside, the Eagles hitting 13-28 threes for 46.4 percent.
Offensively, Kentucky really got into a flow, pushing the lead to 26 points with twelve and a half minutes to go; unfortunately, sloppy play and defensive breakdowns allowed the Eagles to cut the lead to only 13 by the end of the game.
